Full Job Description Job Summary:
Manages and maintains all aspects of greenhouse/nursery operations. Including but not limited to all horticulture maintenance, inventory controls, sales, plant procurement, account preparation, and customer relations. This position requires heavy lifting, watering, cleaning, boxing, and any other need associated with our interior tropical plant distribution and supply company.
Job environment:
This position is a full time greenhouse placement dealing with live plants, planters, and all plant supplies associated with interior landscaping. This position requires weekend and after hour duties for arrival shipments or large projects, as well as Saturday retail sales.
Job Responsibilities:
Greenhouse Maintenance
  • Weekly watering schedule, weekly pest control, allocating resources for property upkeep (mowing, cleaning, organizing products) Plant Health Maintenance
  • Maintains all plant health, with proper insect and disease controls, evaluating regularly the horticultural conditions of our in-house foliage as well as all new arrivals and inventory Plant Preparation
  • Preparing plants for new installations, rentals and customer purchases to include cleaning, organization of orders, and packaging for delivery Customer Sales
  • Handle all walk in customers, phone and internet sales with the highest degree of service and care Inventory Controls
  • Maintains inventory of plant products and supplies needed for daily operations Greenhouse Leader
  • Maintains a comfortable greenhouse environment that allows for easy purchase and viewing of all of our interior landscape products and plants Cleaning
  • Keep all areas of location clean, organized and free of clutter Goal Setter
  • Develops and implements goals and procedures for better operations and continued company growth Shipments
  • Ability to load and unload large shipments of plants and organize appropriately throughout the greenhouse Weekly Communication
  • Proper communication to all team members and supervisory staff Marketing Assistance
  • Works directly with management to encourage weekly updates to social media and website updates via photos, promotions, or marketing campaigns Opening and closing of greenhouse location
  • Including all end of day duties requiring final processing of all sales for accounting Solo work
  • Some days may require work to be accomplished individually as the sole position in the greenhouse Team Player
  • Working well with all team members in all departments of the business
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Staff
  • Occasionally controls a staff of 3-5 employees for use in maintaining all aspects of business volumes and greenhouse needs Staff Training and Assessment
  • May require interviewing, hiring, and training employees Staff Maintenance
  • Planning, assigning, and directing work while checking performance and addressing issues Independent
  • Maintains our work environment independently and as a full visual representative of our company
Job Qualifications:
College Degree
  • Horticulture, Botany or related field requested, but not mandatory Business Minded
  • Know how to maintain a business and all products associated with that business Supervisory Experience
  • Previous supervisory experience a bonus but not required Language
  • Must be able to read, write, and process the English language in order to communicate properly with all staff and customers Bilingual Language-Spanish requested but not mandatory Computer Skills
  • Proper understanding of Microsoft Office programs including excel, word, and outlook Social Networking
  • Proper understanding of Facebook, Instagram, and google + Physical Needs
  • Must be able to lift 100 lbs and be able to move comfortably throughout an entire workday Plant Knowledge
  • All plant knowledge a bonus, will train otherwise
