Job Description
Introduction The Department of Health Services (DHS), Northern Wisconsin Center (NWC) is recruiting to fill a Nursing Supervisor position in Chippewa Falls, WI. The position will mainly be assigned to work Monday through Friday, 6:00 am to 6:00 pm. There will be a combination of 8- and 12-hour shifts totaling 40 hours per week. This position works every fourth weekend from 6:00 am - 6:00 pm including a holiday rotation assignment. This position also requires an on-call assignment and provides nursing coverage as needed. NWC is a short-term assessment and treatment facility for individuals who have an intellectual disability as well as a mental illness and aggressive or challenging behaviors. The programming is designed to prepare people to live successfully in a community setting. Position Summary As the Nursing Supervisor, you will be responsible for monitoring and supervising quality of care and administrative practices at NWC. You will also be responsible for: Performing all necessary nursing duties within the scope of the Registered Nurse (RN) license, e.g., distributing medications, administering treatments, directing team response to employee or individual health crisis situations, etc. Supervising certified nursing assistants and a licensed practical nurse. Covering as the designee of the Facility Director or Facility Deputy Director (Administrative Officer) and be responsible for overall operations of the facility, including the physical plant, and be in charge during emergencies, such as fire and severe weather when the director or deputy director is not present. Salary Information The starting pay for this position is between $56.38 and $64.93 per hour (approximately between $117,200 and $135,000 per year) depending on qualifications, plus excellent benefits. A 12-month probationary period is required. Pay for current or former state employees is set based upon the rules that apply to compensation for the applicable transaction. This position is in pay schedule and range 50/11. Job Details All applicants will be required to allow DHS to conduct a background check to determine whether the circumstances of any convictions may be related to the job being filled. All appointees will be required to receive a TB test, which will be administered by the NWC, or medical personnel approved by the facility prior to their start date. DHS does not sponsor work visas for this position, thus, in compliance with federal law, selected candidates will be required to verify eligibility to work in the United States by completing the required I-9 form upon hire. eligible employer. Qualifications Minimally qualified applicants will have all the following: Licensure, or eligible for licensure as an RN in the State of Wisconsin by the Department of Safety and Professional Services.
Eligible is defined as:
currently registered as a professional nurse in another state, eligible to work in WI and eligible to obtain licensure in WI. Licensure must be obtained by time of appointment. Experience working as an RN providing direct care nursing services. Experience providing mentoring, coaching, guidance, or training to other staff. Well-qualified applicants will also have at least one of the following: Experience working with individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities. Experience in a formal supervisory or management role (e.g., hiring, resolving conflict, conducting performance evaluations, delegating work responsibilities, monitoring workload, etc.).
