"Priority consideration will be given to any person receiving State public assistance under the CalWORKs program. Applicants who receive State public assistance need to identify their status as a CalWORKs recipient in the comments area on the application. Applicants must submit a verification of their CalWORKs eligibility status, which may include the most recent Notice of Action showing TANF eligibility or a copy of your last aid check stub. If verification is not submitted with the application, the application will not be processed. (Applicants may obtain verification from the CalWORKs program)." The reporting location is Grover Hot Springs State Park, CA (Alpine County). This position works under the lead of a State Park Ranger, Supervising Ranger, or Senior Park Aide. The primary duties of the Park Aide are to staff the entrance station and responsible for the day-to-day visitor service operations including the campground while interacting with the public. The Park Aide is responsible for selling day-use tickets, housekeeping, operating the computer point-of-sale system, explain rules and regulations, and answer a wide variety of questions from the public. Park Aides are the first people the public sees when entering a State Park. Desirable abilities include communicating effectively with co-workers and visitors, multi-tasking in a fast-paced, public contact setting, following directions, operating a point-of-sale system, good customer service skills, performing arithmetic while handling money, and preparing written and computer-generated accounting documents. Applicants must be willing to purchase and wear a uniform and conform to minimal grooming standards. Training is provided. You must be willing to work day or swing shifts, including weekends and holidays. This position is seasonal. This position may work up to 1500 hours within 12 consecutive months. This position is designated as not telework eligible. The selected candidate is required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan fingerprinting prior to appointment. Possession of a valid driver's license of the appropriate class and a safe driving record as documented by the Department of Motor Vehicles within 60 days prior to appointment. (A safe driving record is one free from convictions in the past two years for repeated moving violations or a single serious violation, such as drunk driving or reckless driving.) State housing may be required.
Special Requirement/Condition of Employment:
Depending on the assigned location, the incumbent may be required to occupy state-owned housing to meet operational needs or may be offered state-owned housing if available. Housing assignments will be determined in accordance with Department policy, operational priorities, and applicable labor agreements. Working Conditions Work schedule is typically 8 or 10 hours shifts, 4 to 5 days a week. Shifts may be morning or evening / night. Work environment may have exposure to dirt, dust, fumes, and unpleasant odors. Must be able to work on weekends, holidays, and occasional special events. Standing for prolonged periods of time.
