The reporting location is Hearst Castle State Historical Monument in San Simeon California. The incumbent works at the hilltop of the State Historical Monument. This position works under the supervision of the Fire Fighter/ Security Officer and the general direction of the State Parks Supervising Ranger. The Senior Park Aide/Day Security position is primarily a visitor service position. The incumbent works closely with the public; visitors, guides, other hilltop staff, and Law enforcement. Day Security Senior Park Aides are part of the protection and security team and work with the State Park Peace Officer Rangers watching the monument and grounds. This position requires a great deal of walking and walking up and down stairs, working weekends, holidays, and some evenings.The Senior Park Aides are assigned Park Aide Coordinator duties and are tasked with training new hires when necessary and coordinating and driving the van pool. This position may work up to 1500 hours within 12 consecutive months. This position is designated as not telework eligible. The selected candidate is required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan fingerprinting prior to appointment. Possession of a valid driver's license of the appropriate class and a safe driving record as documented by the Department of Motor Vehicles within 60 days prior to appointment. (A safe driving record is one free from convictions in the past two years for repeated moving violations or a single serious violation, such as drunk driving or reckless driving.)
