Under the supervision of the NR, Horticulture & Turf Manager, or designated supervisor, the Park Maintenance staff will perform day to day management and restoration of the district's green space. This part time position requires 90% field work in the out-of-doors. Part Time Benefits Part-Time employees receive free membership to our Lifestyles Fitness Center and the Pelican Harbor water park. Part-Time employees receive 30% discount on programs and family members in their household also receive 30% off memberships & programs. Part-Time staff working 520-999.75 hours in the current year, will earn 16 hours of Personal Time Off to use in the following year. Part-Time staff who work 1000+ hours in the current year will earn 32 hours of Personal Time Off to use in the following year. Eligible for mandatory pension plan based on 1000 hours or more worked per year. Free CPR/AED training. Employee Recognition Program Employee payroll portal.EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & TRAINING
High school diploma or equivalent. Experience in a wide variety of manual labor activities. Valid driver's license is required Must be licensed by the State of Illinois as a certified pesticide operator or become certified within 6 months of hiring for Natural Resources Must have a Chicago Wilderness burn certificate or become certified within 6 months of hiring for Natural Resources Must be able to carry 50 lbs. for 25 yards.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES A
reasonable mechanical aptitude and interest in machinery and equipment used to maintain parks and natural areas. Ability to work in all weather conditions Ability to understand and follow both oral and written directions. Ability to use assorted hand tools such as, but not limited to, rakes, shovels, hand saws, pruners, etc. Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions. Ability to properly identify native and invasive woody and herbaceous species in natural areasDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential Duties :
Planting trees, shrubs, and plugs; installing seed Perform ecological restoration through brush tree, prescription burn and invasive management Mowing, edging, and trimming trails Complete and submit daily reports as directed Litter collection and removal Conduct vehicle & equipment inspections Tree felling & pruning Watering and weeding gardens & other plant material Work special events as directed Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors. Abide by the Bolingbrook Park District dress code for your area Perform all job tasks within the rules and guidelines of the Park District's safety program Work as a Team Player with co-workers and in conjunction with other departmentsMarginal Duties :
Conduct park inspections Remove snow from walks, drives & lots Power wash vehicles & equipment Attend all required safety programs and in-service trainings Work special events as directedPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Must have the ability to read and write in English and organize materials. Ability to drive a vehicle, ATV and lawn mowing equipment. Must be able to relate to other people in a professional manner. FLSA This is a part time hourly, non-exempt position. IMRF This position qualifies for IMRF participation. HOURS Position is year-round and hours vary by the growing season, which is March - November. Job is for a maximum of 28 hours per week as scheduled by the NR, Horticulture & Turf Manager between the hours of 6:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. and generally Monday through Friday, but can include special events and weekends. Workdays and hours may vary due to workload or weather.NOTE:
