Job Description
This position is funded through the Illinois Youth Investment Program . To qualify for this role you must meet the requirements of the Illinois Youth Investment Program. The Illinois Youth Investment Program (IYIP) is a multi-faceted approach to youth employment that invests in the future of Illinois' at-risk transition-age youth (16-24) . This approach to youth employment accounts for the youth's employment barriers as well as the physical, emotional, social, and mental health needs while helping them to secure and sustain long-term and/or career employment thereby ensuring a greater likelihood of success and self-sufficiency. The Rockford Park District program is designed to target those youth who are interested in short-term Summer employment with a goal of developing workplace skills and gaining employment experience while exploring potential Career Pathways. Title Lockwood Park Maintenance 1 Department Lockwood Park Maintenance Status Seasonal Office Location Lockwood Park Reports To Maintenance Supervisor Wage $17/Hour Position Description Receives and completes daily work orders, performing maintenance duties, conducting safety checks, operating tools, ensuring safety and cleanliness standards, providing customer service, and conducting snow removal and cleaning for Lockwood Park.

Performs maintenance duties to the facility, grounds, and equipment according to required specifications for safety and appearance. Performs frequent routine safety checks on buildings, grounds, and equipment. Assists with maintaining trails, grounds, and facilities at Lockwood Park Effectively and safely operates pole saw, table saws, band saws, drills, string trimmers, landscape blowers and other hand tools as required to get the job done. Ensures that all work performed is conducted in a safe and timely manner adhering to standards of cleanliness and effective equipment utilization. Provides quality customer service to all patrons, guests, and other District employees. Seasonal snow removal of sidewalks and parking lot. Performs daily cleaning of grounds and facilities. Education/Experience High School Diploma, Some experience with horses preferred. Critical Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
