Applicants eligible for years-of-service adjustments or shift differentials may exceed salary range listed above. This position will be located at Missouri Mines State Historic Site, 4000 State Highway Park Hills, MO 63601 . Work shifts will vary according to facility demands and will include working weekends and holidays. This position works a 5 day / 8 hour day work week, typically working two weekends per month throughout the year.
Responsibilities - What you'll do Receives training in the operation and maintenance of a historic site facility offering a variety of services which may include trails, historic structures or non-structural cultural remnants. Participates in facility maintenance to ensure standards are met for public health, safety and accessibility. This position assists in conducting state park or historic site tours, and presenting interpretive and educational programs at state parks, historic sites, schools, or other community locations. Assist in researching historical and cultural resource materials; prepare preliminary reports and interpretive materials; assists with the development of permanent and temporary exhibits; assist with collections management and present technical/interpretive information to the general public. Assist with and participate in all Resource Stewardship activities. Equivalent to those typically gained by : Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university can include: Historic Preservation, History, Museum Studies or Public Administration, or related field (Experience involving management, supervision, and active participation in various activities involving interpretation, preservation, protection, maintenance, and enhancement of state parks and historic sites may substitute for the required education.) Other Preferred Qualifications and Experience/Special Job Requirements Ability to operate a vehicle and maintain a valid vehicle operator's license Available to work nights, weekends, holidays, evenings, and split shifts. Available to participate in meetings, workshops and seminars requiring overnight stays Position will be required to successfully complete Prescribed Fire Training and serve on various Prescribed Fire Crews. Must be able to perform strenuous physical outdoor work in extreme or inclement weather conditions, able to stand or walk on uneven terrain for extended periods, lift, carry and load up to 50 pounds repeatedly, bend stoop, crawl and work on elevated surfaces, operate equipment for extended timeframes such as mowers, tractors, trimmers, backpack blowers, climb ladders. Lack of post-secondary education will not be used as the sole basis denying consideration to any applicant.
