2026 Summer Program - Parks/Greenscapes

• Returning summer students may be eligible for an increased hourly rate
• The City of Lancaster is pleased to offer the 2026 Summer Program for summer work experience to eligible high school and college students.

Students who are City residents are encouraged to apply for the positions listed below. Summer jobs are located throughout the City limits, concentrated in the Public Works department. Most of it is outdoors. Important Information to consider when applying: Candidates must be able to work the entire summer schedule. Sports camps and band camps cannot be accommodated. Position Title Location Work Schedule Primary Duties Additional Information Parks Assistant Long's Park 7:00am-3:30pm (TBD) includes weekends (2 per month)

• Requires a driver's license. Mowing, mulching, weed whacking, laboring, animal care
• This position helps take care of the farm animals at the park.
• Driver's license background checks and child abuse clearance will be performed for age 18+.

Must be able to work in adverse weather conditions. Property Assistant Parks 7:00am-3:30pm (June 8 - August 14, 2026 ) Mowing, mulching, weed whacking, laboring Must be able to work in adverse weather conditions. Landscape Assistant Greenscapes 7:00am-3:30pm (June 8 - August 14, 2026) Mulching, watering, hand weeding, and litter/debris removal Must be able to work in adverse weather conditions. Provide general labor and assistance with grounds and landscape maintenance in City-owned parks and public properties, including but not limited to grass mowing, edging, weed trimming, mulching, hand weeding, watering, raking, and planting of new decorative vegetation. Provide general labor and assistance in park asset maintenance and repair, including but not limited to painting, sanding, and pressure washing. Provide assistance in trash collection from designated receptacles, as well as in general litter and debris cleanup within the public right-of-way. Provide assistance in the setup and breakdown of amenities affiliated with special events and gatherings, including but not limited to erecting barricades, staging tables and seating, and pre- and post-event site cleanup.

Long's Park Positions Only:

Provide assistance in overseeing of the activities affiliated with the Long's Park Petting Farm, including but not limited to feeding and care of animals in residence (including horses, donkeys, goats, llamas, pigs and large fowl), and supervision of public entrants for compliance with posted rules and behaviors. 16 years of age or over (with working permit if necessary) The City is especially interested in qualified City residents.
