Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a professional Explosive/Weapon Detection K9 Handler to join our team in the Pittsburgh suburbs. This role supports weapon and explosive detection operations in public spaces, including parks, events, and high-traffic facilities. This is a structured, consistent contract with increasing hours through peak season and opportunity for full-time deployment. Schedule & Work Details Approximately 32-45 hours per week Increased hours and expanded coverage opportunities during peak operational periods Key Responsibilities Conduct explosive detection sweeps in parks, public facilities, and event environments Maintain full control, care, and operational readiness of your assigned K9 Perform ongoing training to maintain detection reliability Complete and accurate reporting for all deployments Coordinate with operations teams and client personnel Follow all operational, safety, and regulatory protocols
Qualifications Required:
Minimum 3 years K9 handling experience (explosive detection strongly preferred) Must own a certified explosive detection K9 ready for deployment Certification from a Nationally recognized program ( NNDDA, NAPWDA, or equivalent ) Valid driver's license and reliable transportation Ability to obtain any required security clearances
Physical Requirements:
Able to work long hours on your feet in outdoor environments Capable of handling a working K9 in high-traffic/public settings
Skills:
Strong situational awareness Professional communication and reporting Reliability and punctuality Ability to operate independently in dynamic environments Preferred Qualifications Military, law enforcement, or private contract K9 background Experience working large-scale events or public venues Prior work in parks or outdoor public spaces
