Seasonal - Summer Ice Arena Attendant II

This position is responsible for performing tasks associated with the maintenance and operations of the Northfield Ice Arena. Incumbents perform routine maintenance, ice resurfacing, customer service, cash register operation, facilities monitoring and janitorial duties on the grounds and facility.

• Provides excellent customer service to all members of our community, inclusive of all races, genders, sexual orientations, religions, abilities, ages, national or ethnic origins, languages, citizenship status, socioeconomic status, and political affiliations.
• Assists customers with rentals and skate sharpening as needed.
• Answers and directs telephone calls.
• Operates cash register and handle money.
• Enforces facility rules and regulations.
• Operates ice resurfacer (Zamboni) and other related equipment in the maintenance of the grounds and facility.
• Maintains arena and grounds cleanliness including mopping, sweeping, trash and recycling, locker room and bathroom sanitation. Recycles materials as warranted.
• Performs general equipment maintenance and repair. Maintains equipment logs.
• Snow and ice removal to keep public walks and driveways clear and clean.
• Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.

• Ability to establish and maintain courteous and effective working relationships with city personnel and the general public; maintains professional demeanor, tone, and conversations in all public areas of the city.
• Maintain a high level of confidentiality and comply with all legal requirements of the job.
• Adhere to all city and department policies and procedures and requirements.
• Proper & safe use & maintenance of any assigned City vehicle, equipment, property, etc. Observe & practice safe work habits. Maintain and monitor all training departmental & safety requirements to be legal, safe, & compliant with laws & regulations.
• Ensure compliance with pertinent Federal, State and local codes, laws and regulations including the Minnesota Data Practices Act, (OSHA) Occupational Safety and Health Act and complies with all city and departmental policies and procedures.
• Assists city departments, divisions, and outside agencies as directed. Function as a team member with all city employees, and effectively interacts with all levels of City personnel.
• Keeps the Ice Arena & Pool Supervisor informed of issues affecting departmental operations.
• Effectively coordinate activities with other ice arena staff and city personnel. Actively participate and promote all ice area activities, duties, meetings, training sessions, etc. as a team member.
• Assure successful operation of the ice arena in accordance with the City's mission and vision statement.

High school diploma or equivalent. 18 years of age or older, valid driver's license, ability to perform light to heavy physical labor, lift and carry up to 50 pounds.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Previous ice arena experience. Recent completion of CPR and AED training. Position will require flexibility in future scheduling to include any hours at the employers' discretion for appropriate coverage and efficiency. May include days, evenings, nights, weekends, including holidays for special event coverage, weather conditions and emergency situations. Timely reporting to work is required. Ineligible for hybrid telecommuting work.
