Catawba Bend Preserve is hiring (2) Park Ranger II to join their team! The purpose of this position is to assist in planning parks and recreation programs and projects and in developing, coordinating, and monitoring park operations; to patrol County parks and enforce rules and regulations for the protection of the parks, visitors, and wildlife; to maintain a safe visitor and employee work environment at Catawba Bend Preserve. Starting salary Range of Pay Grade 113 : $22.71
  • $27.
25 per hour. Salary is determined based on experience and/or education.
Work Schedule:
40 hours per week with the ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays based on operation needs. Schedule will be subject to change with the park opening.

Conferences Duties and Responsibilities:
Coordinates, assigns and reviews work and establishes work schedules; maintains standards; monitors status of work in progress; inspects completed work assignments; answers questions; gives advice and direction as needed. Assists the volunteer coordinator with the onsite management, supervision, and coordination of volunteer projects and workdays. Assists Park management with procuring goods as needed for the upkeep and operations of the park following all applicable procurement guidelines. Assists with camper and shelter reservations/cancellations; supervises park shelter reservation process; collects and records all revenue; maintains records of park attendance and permits issued. Responds to public inquiries, requests for assistance, and complaints regarding park policies and programs, including explaining park rules and regulations to guests. Controls Park access, including opening, closing, and monitoring traffic through the park gates. Records, compiles, and maintains daily records of all fees and visitor information collected. Performs general clerical duties as required, including but not limited to answering the telephone, entering and retrieving computer data, copying and filing documents, and processing mail. Assists in the retail operation of a park store, including the selling, stocking, and maintaining of proper inventory. Patrols Park grounds and inspects facilities for security and safety and takes appropriate steps to ensure the safety of all staff and citizens and the protection of County property while utilizing county vehicles. Participates in the maintenance of park grounds and buildings, including but not limited to installing landscape materials, mowing grass, removing tree limbs and trees, raking/removal of debris, removing refuse and maintaining recycling procedures, painting structures and furnishings, performing carpentry work, performing custodial work, and performing basic electrical, plumbing, and HVAC maintenance and repair work. Additionally, responsible for the maintenance of sewer lift station. Assists in procuring, ordering, and maintaining inventory of supplies and small equipment needed for operations and assist in the inventory of retail goods. May work in the gatehouse to relieve workers for breaks/absences. Performs related work as assigned.

Physical Demands:
Physical demands refer to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement. Performs medium work that involves walking, standing, stooping, jumping, lifting, digging, pushing and raising objects and also involves exerting between 20 and 50 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis and 50 to 100 pounds of force on an occasional basis.
