The City of Breckenridge, a growing community that supports its Police Department, is looking for a full-time police officer. Patrolling the city in a motor vehicle while protecting persons and property; controls andmaintainspublic order; performs law enforcement and regulatory activities such as traffic enforcement, interviewing witnesses, making arrests, bailiff municipal court, enforcing city ordinances, completing reports; and related work asrequired.Essential Job Functions:
Patrols an assigned area to detect criminal activities, suspicious circumstances, traffic and ordinance violations and public safety to life or property; check buildings for physical security; takesappropriate actionby issuing citations, warnings or placing violators in custody asappropriate. Responds to all calls for service, interviews witnesses and suspects, analyzing criminal and civil violations todeterminethe best method of resolution anddeterminessufficiency of evidence to justify a search and/or arrest. Arrests and detains persons suspected of misdemeanor and felony crimes and physically restrains arrested subjects as needed. Serveswarrantsasrequired. Books and processes suspects into the jail and transfers prisoners. Investigates vehicular accidents, directs traffic,assistsmotorists, andwritesrequired reports. Establishpersonalcontactswith citizenstoinform and obtain knowledge of the concerns of the community. Managepeoplewith mental disorders and welfare concerns. Handles lost or missing childrens investigations. Utilizes proper two-way radio techniques and procedures, with clear speech and tone. Prepares criminal, informational, and other routine reports, and logs. Presents verbal testimony and evidence in criminal or civil court. Interacts with prosecutors on specific cases. Collects, processes, photographs, marks, and preserves all types of physical evidence. Attendshift briefings;receiveassignments, handouts and informationregardingdepartment policies, enforcement areas of special concern and other relevant information. Maintains assignedvehicle, patrolequipmentand supplies in good working order. Other duties as assigned.QUALIFICATIONS

(in all weather conditions or extreme emergency conditions) Climbing / Balancing Requires frequent climbing of stairs, walls, embankments and traversing hazardous terrain to arrest subjects, search property, and conduct investigations. (in all weather conditions or extreme emergency conditions) Vision Requires visual acuity correctable to 20/20 in each eye at close and long distances sufficient to read license plate numbers and describe suspects and vehicles accurately, direct firearms discharges at appropriate target, using computer screens and read statements with accurate color perception. (in all weather conditions or extreme emergency conditions) Hearing Requires ability to hear sounds and understand normal conversations in person, on the telephone, and police radio in noisy and stressful environments. (in all weather conditions or extreme emergency conditions) Talking Requires the ability to talk to people in a clear voice and tone for extended periods of time and in stressful situations, talking into a two-way radio, and giving commands. (in all weather conditions or extreme emergency conditions) Trigger Requires the ability to pull the trigger of a firearm or Taser.
