Job Description
The Natural Bridge Appalachian Trail Club's (NBATC) Wednesday Crew welcomes you to join one of their weekly maintenance trips on the Appalachian Trail. From the simple removal of branches, to more complex projects such as constructing new trail, maintenance keeps the Trail in good condition. Individuals (like you!) volunteer their time to perform these tasks. Major summer tasks consist of weed cutting and brush trimming. Drainages are cleaned year-round to get water off the Trail. This helps to mitigate erosion along the Trail's dirt path. Trail structures such as water bars and steps also help to mitigate erosion and these structures often need to be repaired or replaced. NBATC crew members provide on the job training for new members by pairing you up with an experienced maintainer. While the Wednesday Crew takes great pride in the work we do that enables people to enjoy the many benefits of hiking and being outdoors, we also have a lot of fun in the process. Join NBATC Wednesday Crew on October 21st at 9:00 am near Bedford Virginia for one of our weekly Wednesday trail maintenance trips. This event is subject to cancellation in the event of inclement weather.
