Pest Control Technician — Creed Pest Control | Ames, IA Full-Time | Year-Round | $40,000-$55,000 first year About the role Creed Pest Control is a locally owned, fast-growing company protecting homes and businesses across central Iowa. We're hiring a full-time field technician to join our small team in Ames. You'll work directly with customers every day — inspecting their homes, solving real problems, and building the kind of relationships that keep people coming back year after year. No pest control experience needed. We pay for all your training and licensing. This is physical, outdoor work. You need to be comfortable on ladders, in attics and crawlspaces, and genuinely enjoy talking with the people whose homes you're protecting. A day in the life You start the morning at the shop, load your vehicle, and head out on your route. Most days look something like this: Your first stop is a routine pest prevention service for a family you've been seeing every few months. You do a perimeter treatment, check their rodent stations, take care of some spiders they have seen in the basement, and leave them feeling like their home is taken care of. They ask how your week is going. You actually tell them. Mid-morning you get a call about a bat in someone's attic. You inspect the roofline, identify the entry points, walk the homeowner through exactly what's happening and what the fix looks like. They're nervous — bats are stressful — and by the time you leave they're calm and confident that they have the right team working for them. Afternoon is more route stops. A few pest treatments, a mole bait check, a rodent station inspection at a commercial account. You document everything in the app as you go, keep the vehicle clean, and wrap up your day. No two days are identical. Some days are mostly routine. Some days you're on a roof doing exclusion work. Some days a customer calls with an emergency and you figure it out. That variety is part of why people who do this work well fall in love with it. Rotating Seasonal Saturdays. This is a year-round position. Certifications — paid and trained by Creed Within your first 30 days you'll learn and need to pass certifications for: Iowa Core Pesticide License Category 7A — General Pest Within your first 90 days you'll learn and need to pass certifications for: Category 7B — Rodent Control Category 3OT — Structural Pest These belong to you and are recognized statewide. Who we're looking for You don't need pest control experience. You do need to be someone who: Genuinely enjoys talking with people and takes customer service seriously Shows up reliably and takes commitments personally Is comfortable working independently outdoors in physical conditions Has a stable work history — frequent job changes without strong context are a disqualifier Is comfortable working with their hands — people with experience using tools like drills and ladders tend to ramp up faster and increase their earning potential more quickly Recent graduates and career changers are welcome. If you work hard and care about doing the job right, we'll teach you everything else. Basic requirements Valid Iowa driver's license
