Job Description

As an Integrated Pest Management (IPM) Technician, you will work under the supervision of a licensed pesticide applicator and are responsible for mixing and applying pesticides to treat pests and disease in the ornamental landscape. This role requires a love for plants and the outdoors, an acute attention to detail, good organizational and record keeping skills, and a working knowledge of weights and measures. You will be responsible for cleaning equipment after use, and light maintenance of equipment. Our IPM technician should either have their PA and/or NJ applicator's license or be willing to obtain the necessary licensing within the first year. While horticultural and plant identification knowledge is preferred, Walter's Nursery offers continuing education. Experience in Penn. License Categories 2 & 6 is a plus. A successful IPM technician will follow our standard operating procedures, current best practices in the IPM field, and state regulations regarding applications, chemical handling, cleaning, and disposal. All personal protective equipment is provided by Walter's Nursery. Good communication and interpersonal skills are essential to excel with our team and client relations.
Other Requirements:
  • Highschool diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver's license and a clean driving record; reliable transportation to work.
  • Ability to complete a FMCSA driver medical physical to operate our spraying truck.
  • Working knowledge of general landscape tools.
A Day at
Walter's Nursery:
7:30a
  • Start of workday
  • Meet in our production office to receive that day's instruction, crew details, etc. 7:30-8:00a
  • Depart to jobsite with your crew, tools, and materials, in a company vehicle. You will not be asked to use your own vehicle during the workday. 8:00a-12:00p
  • Working on the jobsite. 12:00p-12:30p
  • Lunchtime. 12:30p-4:00p
  • Working on the jobsite. 4:00p-4:30p
  • Depart the jobsite and return to the nursery to unload tools, materials, etc.
