In this role, you will be involved in the most innovative and technical tree care projects. Climbs trees, using climbing rope and saddle, or climb ladders to gain access to work areas, executing safe climbing techniques. Will utilize rope and saddle, climbing line, powered trimmer lift truck. Ground level work using chain saw, hand-powered saws, pruner, etc. Performs thorough walk through to review job specification and scope. Conducts Visual tree assessment (VTA) from the ground Inspects job site to identify obstacles, hazards and necessary equipment; coordinates with Crew Leader and Grounds Crew Identifies plan of action; directs and communicates the crew on the scope job Inspects trees to determine and assess diseases or pest problems Prunes, trims, and shapes trees using standards Communicates with client throughout job and upon completion Area Clean Up
- Uses wedges, sledges, and chain saws to cut and split logs into manageable pieces. Loads and unloads trucks with logs, stumps, brush, and debris and/or feeds brush into a woodchipper. Performs breakdown and clean-up duties at the work site Inspect/Service the Tools of the Trade
- Services gasoline, hand-powered tools and other equipment Safety
- Safeguards employees and the public from hazards in and around the work area.
Cooperates with customers, police, and fire departments when blocking streets or driveways. Set up barriers, warning signs, flags, markers, etc. to protect employees and the public. Knows how to safely operate near energized power lines Operates company vehicles in safe and courteous manner and in accordance with safety policy manual Reports all accidents/damage/malfunctions to management immediately Ensures trucks and equipment are secured while on job sites Wears appropriate PPE and safety equipment Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Competencies Safety minded Ability work well in a team environment while being self-motivated Punctual, and strong work ethic Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills Ability to communicate verbally with crew and customers Ability to work a 4/10 schedule (4 days a week/10 hours a day)
Education/Experience/Licenses:
1 year climbing experience
- required Excellent safety record
- required 1 year Rope and Saddle experience required
- required 1 year of chainsaw use at heights and on ground, and chainsaw safety required
- required 21+ years of age
- required Valid driver's license and acceptable motor vehicle report to drive company vehicle
- required Palm experience
- preferred High school diploma or equivalent
- preferred ISA, PMD, and NATS certifications
- preferred Supervisory Responsibilities None Work Environment Work is performed outside most of the time, under varying and extreme weather conditions.
Ability to work in environmental conditions which may include direct sunlight for extended periods of time, rain, wind, dust and the high Arizona desert heat where temperatures could get as high as 120 degrees Physical Requirements Heavy work. Exerting up to 75 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 35 pounds of force constantly to move objects In this role you will frequently stand, walk, climb or crouch on narrow and/or slippery surfaces; stoop, kneel, bend to pick up or move objects; walk for long distances and on sloped ground and uneven surfaces; move, lift, and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds Lifting. Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position-to-position.
