Responsibilities What You'll Do as a Tree Climber As a Climber/Pruner, you'll perform skilled tree care work including climbing, pruning, rigging, and removals. You'll support the crew in delivering high‑quality service while maintaining a safe and efficient jobsite. Tree Care & Climbing Perform tree pruning, shaping, and removals using climbing techniques and/or aerial lifts. Use ropes, saddles, rigging systems, and safety equipment to access and work within trees. Safely remove limbs and debris from residential properties without damaging structures or landscaping. Equipment Operation Operate chainsaws, pole saws, chippers, stump grinders, and other tree care equipment. Inspect, maintain, and properly store climbing gear and tools. Assist with loading, hauling, and cleanup of brush, logs, and debris. Safety & Jobsite Awareness Participate in daily job briefings and hazard assessments. Identify and communicate potential hazards such as weak limbs, power lines, or unstable trees. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment. Customer Interaction Communicate professionally with homeowners when needed. Answer basic questions about the work being performed. Represent Winkler with courtesy, respect, and professionalism. Team Support Assist ground crew with rigging, lowering, cleanup, and equipment handling. Support the Crew Leader in completing jobs efficiently and safely. Contribute to a positive team environment through communication and collaboration. Qualifications What You Bring At least 1-3 years of experience in tree climbing, pruning, or arboriculture. Strong understanding of proper pruning techniques and tree structure. Proficiency in rope climbing, rigging, and aerial lift operation. Ability to identify common tree species, defects, and hazards. Valid driver's license; CDL is a plus but not required. CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain). Strong work ethic, reliability, and commitment to safety. Physical Demands Ability to:
Lift 50 lbs. to shoulder height or higher. Push or pull up to 50 lbs. Climb, balance, and work at heights for extended periods. Work in varying weather conditions (heat, cold, humidity, rain). Operate two‑handed tools and equipment safely. Perform repetitive motions such as climbing, cutting, and lifting.
