  • 6•2-26 Job Description This position works directly with the Central Area WUI Specialist to plan, coordinate, and execute landscape-scale fuels reduction projects.
The program is committed to an annual goal of treating 7,500 acres through a combination of mechanical and prescribed fire methods. Core duties involve supporting all phases of project implementation, including assisting with burn plan creation, project development, detailed mapping, and regulatory reporting. The role also provides crucial support for prescribed fire operations and the continued development of the WUI brush crew and staff. The ideal candidate is a self-motivated team builder with demonstrable leadership and drive, prepared for a flexible schedule encompassing nights, weekends, and holidays, and possessing a capacity for rapidly mastering multiple specialized skills. Key Responsibilities Manage and implement projects. Oversee prescribed fire operations. Train and develop subordinates peers and supervisors. Develop burn plans. Create scopes of work. Manage contracted and State employed crews on projects. Qualifications Minimums High School Diploma or
GED, NWCG
Single Resource Boss. Good solid writing ability, and a valid driver's license. Basic computer skills and 5 years of wildfire or prescribed fire experience. Preferred NWCG Firing Boss (FIRB) Incident Commander Type 4 (ICT4). Type 2 Prescribed, Fire Burn Boss (RXB2), Task Force Leader (TFLD). Class A CDL w/ tanker and hazmat endorsements. Heavy Equipment Experience. Arc GIS (Pro, Field Maps, Survey 123 proficiency. Supplemental Information Candidate must be able to work long hours in challenging conditions and hike long distances in steep, rocky terrain. flexible with work hours, sometimes 16-hour days. Able to pass an arduous pack test, 3 miles, 45 lbs, in less than 45 minutes. NWCG Red Card Fire Fighter Type 1, Incident Commander type 5, NWCG Single Resource Boss, Valid Utah Class A CDL drivers license. High School Diploma. Back Ground Check and Drivers License.
