Job Description

Position Summary We are seeking a skilled and safety-focused Certified Tree Climber to join our arboriculture team. This position is responsible for climbing, pruning, trimming, and removing trees using industry-approved climbing techniques and equipment. The ideal candidate has strong knowledge of tree biology, safe rigging practices, and proper use of chainsaws and aerial equipment while maintaining a high standard of professionalism and customer service. Key Responsibilities Climb trees using ropes, saddles, harnesses, and other approved climbing systems. Perform tree pruning, trimming, shaping, cabling, bracing, and removals according to ANSI standards. Operate chainsaws, chippers, stump grinders, rigging equipment, and other tree care tools safely and efficiently. Conduct tree inspections to identify hazards, structural defects, disease, or storm damage. Execute rigging and lowering operations to safely remove limbs and trees in residential, commercial, and municipal environments. Maintain compliance with OSHA safety regulations and company safety procedures. Assist with job site setup, traffic control, cleanup, and debris removal. Communicate effectively with crew members, supervisors, and customers. Perform equipment inspections and routine maintenance on climbing and cutting equipment. Respond to emergency storm work and hazardous tree situations as needed.
Required Qualifications:
Current Certified Tree Climber credential or equivalent arborist climbing certification preferred. Minimum of 2 years of professional tree climbing experience. Knowledge of
ANSI Z133
safety standards and proper arboricultural practices. Proficient in rope systems, rigging, knot tying, and aerial rescue procedures. Ability to safely operate chainsaws and tree care equipment. Valid driver's license required; CDL preferred. ISA Certified Arborist certification is a plus. Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and perform physically demanding tasks.
Preferred Qualifications:
Strong attention to safety and detail. Excellent teamwork and communication skills. Ability to work efficiently under pressure. Experience with crane-assisted removals and advanced rigging techniques is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to climb and work at heights exceeding 50 feet. Lift and carry up to 75 pounds regularly. Stand, bend, kneel, climb, and work in physically demanding conditions for extended periods. Comfortable working in heat, cold, rain, and uneven terrain.
Work Environment:
Outdoor work in all weather conditions. Exposure to loud noise, moving equipment, wood debris, and electrical hazards. Travel to various job sites may be required.
