Job Description

Position Summary:
This is a part-time, second-shift position! The Fire Extinguisher Recharge Technician works as part of a team under the supervision of the Recharge Suppression Manager to inspect, repair, test, and refill fire extinguishers and other pressure cylinders. The technician will ensure that all work is performed in compliance with NFPA-10 standards and company policies. The role requires physical labor, attention to detail, and the ability to maintain safety protocols in a warehouse and field environment. During the first week of employment, the selected candidate will work daytime hours (approximately 7:30 AM-4:00 PM) for training and licensing purposes. Beginning in the second week of employment, the schedule will transition to a second-shift position, with hours starting at approximately 4:00 PM and totaling about 30 hours per week.
Core Responsibilities:
Inspect, repair, and test fire extinguishers using hand tools, hydrostatic test equipment, and monitoring devices. Hydro-test low pressure cylinders. Dismantle extinguishers and examine mechanical parts, extinguishing agents, and expelling means; replaces worn or damaged parts. Clean extinguishers and recharge them with approved materials. Working conditions include restricted movement, air contamination, lifting or carrying of heavy objects. Maintain repairs and maintenance on fire extinguishers and systems is performed in accordance with NFPA-10 standards. Maintains receiving, warehousing, and distribution operations by initiating, coordinating, and enforcing program, operational, and personnel policies and procedures in compliance with company policy and vision. Safeguards warehouse operations and contents by establishing and monitoring security procedures and protocols. Controls inventory levels by conducting physical counts; reconciling with data storage system. Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent. Valid Driver's License Ability to carry and move equipment and tools weighing more than 50 pounds, and perform physical labor in confined spaces, at heights, and in varied conditions such as climbing ladders or working in crawl spaces. Strong communication skills with the ability to report issues, solve problems, and adhere to safety protocols. Capable of working independently and within a team. Understanding of safety standards, equipment maintenance, and the ability to use hand tools and testing devices. Consent to a background check upon hire. Must be able to obtain a fire extinguisher license for the State of WV within the first week of employment (Marmic will pay for the exam fees) Must be able to work 40 hours in the first week of employment on the day shift to complete training and obtaining licensure. Starting the second week, the hours will begin at around 4:00 PM for approximately 30 hours/week
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of NFPA-10 standards for fire extinguisher maintenance and testing.

Previous experience in fire safety, extinguisher maintenance, or related fields is preferred. Any relevant technical certifications in safety equipment maintenance or inspection are a plus. Experience operating a forklift in a warehouse setting.
