TEACHING POSITION OPENING FOR THE 2026/2027 SCHOOL YEAR POSITION
Agriscience Teacher & FFA Advisor GRADES:
6-12STATUS:
Full-Time - 1.0 FTEREQUIRED
Valid Michigan teaching certificate with HX, DI and/or DA endorsement on their certificate CTE certification in Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources; OR, Eligibility for Annual Career Authorization (ACA)INCLUDE:

Develop and implement a comprehensive agricultural science curriculum that aligns with state standards and promotes student engagement. Teach a variety of subjects related to agricultural science, including but not limited to plant science, animal science, agronomy, and environmental sustainability. Create hands-on learning experiences through laboratory work, field trips, and agricultural projects. Assess and evaluate student performance, providing constructive feedback and support to foster academic growth. Collaborate with other faculty members to integrate agricultural science concepts into interdisciplinary projects. Organize and supervise extracurricular activities, such as FFA (Future Farmers of America) and other agricultural clubs. A minimum of 90 hours of summer AG duties required, that are included in an additional contract and pay. Maintain a safe and organized classroom environment, ensuring all equipment and materials are properly managed. Communicate effectively with students, parents, and the community regarding student progress and program initiatives. Stay current with advancements in agricultural science and incorporate relevant technologies and practices into the curriculum. Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and knowledge of agricultural education.REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree in Agricultural Science, Education, or a related field 4,000 hours of recent and relevant work experience if ACA (Annual Career Authorization) is required Strong knowledge of agricultural practices, principles, and technologies. Experience in teaching or working with middle and high school students is preferred. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students. Ability to develop and implement innovative teaching strategies that cater to diverse learning styles. Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities effectively. Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment. Familiarity with FFA or similar agricultural organizations, or willingness to learnPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This position requires long periods of standing, sitting, and walking. The position requires occasional lifting of supplies and movement of classroom furnishings during the course of the school day. Work takes place both indoors and outdoors, with some travel to other schools or field trip locations.BENEFITS
