Not Required Overview The Aircraft Mechanic III will support the installation of Time Compliance Technical Order (TCTO) 1T-6A-876, modifying the T-6A Texan II to incorporate the Automatic Backup Oxygen System (ABOS). This position supports a Contract Field Team (CFT) at Laughlin AFB performing all assigned steps ofTCTO 1T-6A-876
(excluding those specifically retained by the local FTW/MX organization). The team will execute concurrent modifications on two aircraft at a time and coordinate all actions through the site Contracting Officer's Representative (COR). The Aircraft Mechanic III serves as a technical lead, providing supervision, oversight, and hands-on execution of electrical or structural modification tasks in accordance with approved technical data, blueprints, and TCTO instructions.Responsibilities:
- Lead and supervise aircraft maintenance and TCTO modification efforts on T-6A aircraft in accordance with
TCTO 1T-6A-876.
- Perform and oversee installation of ABOS modification kits (P/N 133-5034-0001 and associated components).
- Execute technical directive compliance and aircraft modifications in strict accordance with engineering data and PWS requirements.
- Coordinate daily activities with the site COR and communicate all technical concerns, discrepancies, or clarification requests through proper channels.
- Interpret and apply blueprints, technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and TCTO instructions to accomplish modification tasks.
- Perform aircraft logbook entries and maintenance documentation in accordance with applicable USAF procedures.
- Ensure all contractor-furnished tools and special tools (per TCTO Section 5.3) are available, serviceable, and properly maintained.
- Operate and inspect required Support Equipment (SE).
- Provide technical guidance, instruction, and mentorship to Mechanic I and II personnel.

Specialty Requirements:
Aircraft Mechanic III- Electrical
- Lead installation of electrical TCTO modifications, including wiring harness installation and repair.
- Perform connector pinning/depinning using approved crimping and insertion/extraction tooling.
- Troubleshoot and verify functionality of aircraft electrical systems associated with ABOS integration.
- Demonstrated experience as a lead aircraft electrician.
- Minimum three (3) years aircraft maintenance experience.
- Proven ability to mentor and guide junior technicians.
- Strong proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, blueprints, and TCTOs.
- Ability to recognize incomplete or unclear technical data and formally request clarification through the COR. Aircraft Mechanic III
- Sheet Metal
- Perform aircraft structural modifications involving drilling, cutting, punching, fitting, and fastening sheet metal components.
- Install structural fittings, brackets, and hardware in accordance with TCTO requirements.
- Apply knowledge of structural repair, fabrication techniques, and aircraft sheet metal practices.
- Interpret blueprints, technical documents, and TCTO instructions with accuracy.
- Ability to identify unclear technical guidance and route clarification requests through the COR.
- Aircraft environmental systems and oxygen servicing experience highly desired.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum three (3) years aircraft maintenance experience relevant to assigned specialty.
- Demonstrated leadership experience guiding and supervising maintenance personnel.
- Comprehensive knowledge of aircraft mechanical systems including structures, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, and flight controls (as applicable).
- Proficiency with aircraft maintenance tools including torque wrenches, micrometers, dial indicators, cable tensiometers, and sheet metal fabrication equipment.
- Ability to maintain compliance with updated TCTO revisions and contractual direction during the period of performance.
- Strong organizational skills with ability to prioritize workload to meet aircraft delivery schedules.
Tools & Equipment:
Contractor personnel shall provide individual toolkits appropriate to their specialty and ensure availability of all special tools required by TCTO Section 5.3 at the performance site. All tools must be maintained in serviceable condition and replaced as required.Travel:
TDY travel may be required to support continuation or completion of aircraft modifications at alternate locations to ensure continuity of operations.group id:
