Job Description

Job Summary Job Type:
Full-Time (32-40 hrs/week)
Salary:
$18.00 to $22.00 /hour

K and PTO General Description:
Performs management and maintenance of aquariums in residential and commercial settings. Provides basic animal husbandry for a variety of fish, inverts and coral, maintains components of filtration systems, monitors water quality, and cleans aquatic habitats. Ensures high quality service is delivered to our clients. Approximate % of time: Principal Job Duties and Responsibilities 80%: Performs routine husbandry, filter operation and exhibit maintenance tasks for assigned aquariums and their specimens. Includes, but not limited to, regular feedings, health and behavioral observations, water quality monitoring and filter maintenance, and exhibit cleaning. Responsible for aquascaping and general aesthetics of exhibits. 10%: Performs preventative maintenance/repairs on live exhibit filtration. 10%: Responsible for the hygiene of areas surrounding aquariums and filtration.
Requirements:
Education (preferred): B.A. or B.S. in Biology or related field with course-work in zoology, aquatic biology and chemistry preferred however we will consider candidates without a degree or a degree in progress. Experience (preferred): One year in a retail aquarium store, hatchery or public aquarium preferred however we will consider candidates without this experience who have a strong desire and aptitude to learn. Valid Open Water dive certification is required . However we will consider candidates that are willing to get certified after being hired. Aptitude in science and art/design is preferred. Hour are flexible, but may be required to work unusual hours or on unscheduled days during emergency type circumstances. Travel between regional locations will be required. Employees must have reliable transportation and will be require to use their own vehicle to get to job sites. A travel stipend is included. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are required. Must have good hearing, visual acuity, and be able to lift 50 lbs.
