Animal Care Assistant

Hawaii Island Humane Society is a non-profit animal welfare organization. All positions require humane treatment of animals, compassionate public service, excellent communications, and computer skills, a clean driving record, and no limitations in working with animals. Animal Care Assistants work directly with our Veterinary and Shelter teams to provide direct, basic, compassionate care for shelter animals and community-owned pets. Duties include, but are not limited to: Feeding animals Cleaning kennels Maintaining a clean and organized work environment Handling and lifting animals Walking dogs, and other duties as assigned Opportunities for growth include the potential for promotion to Animal Care Technician or Enrichment Coordinator, depending on the employee's aptitude, interest, and capabilities. Applicants should enjoy spending time with animals of all shapes and sizes. Applicants must be reliable, compassionate and willing to learn and follow HIHS protocols. Must have a solid work history and able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends if needed.

Pay:

$21.00 per hour
