Job Description

Job Summary Join our dedicated team as an Animal Control Officer, where you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and well-being of both the community and animals. This dynamic position involves responding to animal-related incidents and enforcing local laws. You will be a proactive problem-solver, utilizing your skills in animal handling, law enforcement, and conflict management to address various situations with professionalism . Your efforts will help foster a safer, healthier environment for residents and their pets alike. Responsibilities Respond promptly to calls involving stray, injured, or aggressive animals to ensure public safety and animal welfare. Enforce local animal control laws and regulations related to animal ownership and licensing. Capture, handle, and transport animals to shelters, veterinary clinics or holding facilities using humane techniques while ensuring safety for yourself and others. Conduct surveillance and investigations related to animal cruelty, neglect, or illegal activity. checking for identification (tags, microchips, tattoos) and attempting to reunite animals with owners. Write detailed reports documenting incidents, investigations, and actions taken for legal and departmental records. Collaborate with law enforcement agencies on criminal investigations involving animals or related violations. Educate the public on responsible pet ownership, licensing requirements, and community safety initiatives. Skills 1 to 3 years of related work experience in public safety, animal handling, or related field. Knowledge of animal behavior and public interaction. Physical stamina and agility for capturing and moving animals. Problem-solving and decision-making skills in unpredictable situations Any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities.
REQUIRED LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS
State certifications in animal control and euthanasia Valid Driver's License (with good driving record)
Pay:
$18.00 - $20.00 per hour
