AP Lead Role

AP Lead Role Summary We are seeking an experienced Accounts Payable Lead to support a single-site refinery operation. This role goes beyond traditional transactional AP. It requires strong SAP and accounting judgment, cross-functional coordination, and a clear ownership mindset to manage complex AP activities while maintaining financial accuracy and control. The individual will serve as a central point of accountability within AP , providing structure, prioritization, and leadership across day-to-day activities and issue resolution. Scope of Role (High-Level) Act as lead point of contact within AP for complex issues and resolution Provide informal leadership and coordination across AP priorities and workload Support oversight of GR/IR and liability-related balances in a controlled and auditable manner Drive issue triage, tracking, and escalation across process and system challenges Coordinate across functions including Supply Chain, Warehouse, Tax, and SAP teams Engage with vendors as needed to resolve discrepancies and support accuracy of invoice processing Candidate Profile Experience ~10+ years of experience in Accounts Payable or related accounting roles Experience in complex, high-volume environments (refinery, manufacturing, or similar preferred) Hands-on experience with SAP (ECC and/or S/4HANA) Leadership Capability Demonstrated ability to lead work efforts (formal or informal) Strong ownership mindset with ability to drive follow-through and resolution Comfortable operating in fast-paced, evolving environments Functional Strength Strong understanding of: AP processes and controls GR/IR and liability management concepts Invoice accuracy and financial risk implications Ability to apply sound accounting judgment in non-standard scenarios Working Style Highly organized with strong tracking and prioritization skills Effective cross-functional communicator Detail-oriented with focus on audit readiness and risk mitigation With over 90 years' combined experience, NES Fircroft (NES) is proud to be the world's leading engineering staffing provider spanning the Oil & Gas, Power & Renewables, Chemicals, Construction & Infrastructure, Life Sciences, Mining and Manufacturing sectors worldwide.
