Job Description
Hale Education is located in Westwood, MA and has 1,200 acres of woodlands that in the summer houses 7 day camps and a Family and Community Beach. Each summer we build staff teams to support Hale's Summer Camps, as well as our Partner Camp Organizations. Archey is an activity provided by Hale staff. We train, certify and manage activity specialists that support our own camps and the partners. All camps are day camps and operate Monday-Friday. Hours can be flexible from part-time to full-time work. If someone has a passion for this role we will help them to get their insturctor certification.
Archery Instructor Responsibilities:
Develop, implement and evaluate program curriculum and lesson plans for the specific activity in the camp Enforce all safety rules within the archery range and while using equpment. Prepare and facilitate engaging activities and specific lessons for participants ages 6-14 Use existing resources and personal creativity to plan lessons and activities, ensuring that lessons are age and level-appropriate. Ensure that activities and lessons are hands-on and engaging to earn campers' interest and foster an appreciation for the natural environment. Communicate with camp directors to ensure programs meet expectations and serve specific camper needs. Participate in and help counselors plan their participation in special camp programs: Friday events, and special events/days. Fill in as "substitute" for groups and program areas when and where necessary. Assist with Rainy Day activities in designated areas with designated groups. Conduct daily check of Specialty Area for cleanliness and safety concerns. Oversee cleanup process at the end of the day. Maintain curriculum materials and contribute to curriculum development: Document activities and reflections to help develop and diversify Hale's activity curriculum, including supplies needed, activity steps, and facilitator notes. Maintain organization and functionality of program materials, reporting or addressing problems as needed. Organize and store activity records in the Activity binder at the end of the summer. Complete an end-of-season report outlining topics, activities, and suggestions for future Hale programming. Ensure safety of all staff and participants participating in programs: Clearly communicate environmental safety guidelines to participants, and review at the start of each activity session. Communicate program expectations to camp directors and staff, review these guidelines before each session, and work with the leadership to address problems as needed. Collaborate with camp staff to manage camper behavior and ensure a safe learning environment for all participants. Adhere to the schedule designed by the camp staff. Participate in in-service trainings throughout the summer Complete additional duties assigned by supervisor Serve as a flexible, dependable, friendly, and cooperative member of the team Maintain professional appearance and attire provided byHale Qualities of Successful Staff Members:

Has a good sense of humor and interpersonal skills with clients, colleagues and supervisors.Qualifications:
Minimum age: 18 (required by state regulations) Required certification: CPR and First-Aid Is available Monday-Friday from June 2026 to August 2026. All time off must be approved by program director. Attend all required trainings before start of program Demonstrated experience working with children. Demonstrated experience in the outdoors. Ability to take initiative and produce results with minimal supervision. Ability to work on diverse teams with a diverse range of people.
