We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Designer to lead the design and delivery of multifamily and mixed-use projects, from concept through construction. The ideal candidate combines strong design sensibility with technical expertise in Revit and project delivery systems, proven experience across affordable housing, student housing, market-rate and faculty housing, and the ability to coordinate consultants, mentor design teams, and maintain client relationships. This role focuses on creating high-quality, buildable design solutions that meet program, budget, schedule, and code requirements. Key Responsibilities Lead architectural design for multifamily and mixed-use projects, guiding projects from schematic design through construction documents and construction administration.
Produce and manage Revit models and construction documents, ensuring accuracy, coordination and adherence to office BIM standards.
Coordinate with consultants (structural, MEP, civil, landscape) to integrate building systems and resolve design conflicts.
Develop clear design presentations, diagrams, renderings, and client deliverables to communicate design intent.
Ensure code compliance and assist with permit documentation and submittals; perform building code review and constructability analysis.
Mentor and review work of junior designers and project staff, providing guidance on design, detailing and documentation best practices.
Manage project schedules, deliverables, and budgets in collaboration with project managers; escalate risks and propose mitigation strategies.
Participate in client meetings, presentations, and stakeholder coordination; maintain strong client relationships and respond to client needs.
Collaborate with sustainability and cost-estimating teams to incorporate energy-efficient and cost-effective design strategies.
Support quality control procedures, including peer reviews and final document QA/QC prior to issuance.
Conduct periodic site visits and construction administration tasks to ensure design intent is implemented correctly. Qualifications Bachelor or Master of Architecture (or equivalent) from an accredited institution.
7+ years of professional experience in architectural design, with substantial experience on multifamily and mixed-use projects (affordable housing, student housing, market-rate, and faculty housing preferred).
Proven expertise in Revit and BIM workflows; ability to manage and maintain complex models and enforce BIM standards.
Strong portfolio demonstrating design leadership, technical documentation, and completed multifamily or mixed-use projects.
Working knowledge of local and national building codes, accessibility standards and permitting processes.
Experience coordinating multidisciplinary consultant teams and producing coordinated construction documents.
Excellent graphic, verbal and written communication skills; ability to present to clients and stakeholders.
Demonstrated leadership skills and experience mentoring junior staff and collaborating across project teams.
Familiarity with construction administration, site observation and resolving field issues.
Professional registration (RA/Architect) is a plus; willingness to pursue licensure if not registered.
Proficiency with project software including MS Office, Bluebeam and experience with visualization tools (Enscape, Lumion, or similar) is preferred. Benefits Competitive Salary
