Ana Williamson Architects is an award winning, design oriented architectural practice located in downtown Menlo Park specializing in custom single-family residential projects. The ideal applicant for this Job Captain position will possess an enthusiastic attitude and inhabit a belief that collaborative creativity is a critical component of successful projects. For 30 years we have worked hand in hand with great clients, trusted contractors, and long partnering consultants to bring sketches into reality. We are devoted to the idea that great projects are a collaborative, creative journey that we build together. With many exciting projects in the queue we're looking for a creative, resourceful Job Captain to join us and be a vital part of our small, talented and passionate team. Your role in the practice will include handling 3-4 projects with direct collaboration from the Principal and a Project Manager/Architect. You will take part in client engagement, lead the development of project documentation, direct consultant communications, and meet throughout the project with clients, consultants, and contractors. Individuals will have the opportunity to participate in the practice as a project leader. Those eager to make an impact will be supported and encouraged!
Job responsibilities:
Work closely with the Principal and staff to support residential remodels and new construction Collaborate on design direction of project Prepare and present designs to internal team members, consultants, contractors, and clients Manage day-to-day workflow 3-4 small projects and support Principal and Project Manager/Architects with other, larger projects Production, either solo or in concert with team, of presentation drawings and permit/construction drawings Manage project correspondence, schedule and budget, including coordination with consultants, contractors, and clients, on projects for which the candidate is responsible Manage deadlines with team members and consultants for the projects, especially where the candidate is responsible Research of codes, materials, and new construction methods
Qualifications Include:
Professional Bachelor's degree or Master's degree in Architecture required Requires at least 4-7 years of experience in architecture profession At least 3 years of experience should include work on custom, private residential projects OR at least 3 years of experience in all phases of custom design including construction administration Must have excellent design and communication skills Proficiency with ArchiCAD preferred Experience managing consultants preferred Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Photoshop or Illustrator as well as InDesign Dog lover! We have an office dog, sometimes a few dogs.
Terms of employment:
Full Time - approximately 40 hours a week. Candidates must be located in close proximity to Menlo Park or be willing to relocate to the Palo Alto/Menlo Park area. Further terms will be spelled out in contract to be signed upon commencing employment, and will include a competitive benefits package with health insurance, 401k and continuing education funds.
