Job Description
Your Role As an Architect with Gensler's team in Washington, D.C. you will design and deliver some of the most complex and impactful buildings in the region. You will bring together design excellence, technical rigor, and strategic thinking to deliver architecture that is both deeply functional and experientially rich. You will work within a highly collaborative, client-focused culture that values design quality, resilience, and social purpose. What You Will Do Manage full project cycles—from conceptual design through construction administration Lead teams, oversee technical quality, ensure consultant coordination, and deliver high-performing, well-documented architectural solutions Manage all phases of projects, including project set-up, design, technical documentation, and construction administration Lead design and technical decision-making, presenting real-world solutions to complex challenges Supervise production of drawings, details, schedules, and specifications Coordinate multidisciplinary consultants and ensure integrated documentation Oversee budgets, schedules, staffing plans, and client communication Conduct site inspections; review RFIs, submittals, and ensure design intent is delivered Mentor and lead multiple project teams; contribute to office knowledge-sharing Support client development through proposal input and maintaining client relationships Your Qualifications Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture from an accredited program 10-15 years of relevant experience within a commercial design firm designing and delivering buildings that are stunning and functional Expertise in building codes, construction methods, and technical detailing Strong leadership, communication, and team management capabilities Proficiency in Revit, plus additional design/visualization tools Experience delivering projects through full lifecycle, including post-occupancy Passion for design excellence and continuous learning LEED accreditation or WELL AP is preferred Registered / Licensed Architect Demonstrated commitment to resilience and sustainable building practices; ideally portfolios will include at least one project (especially built projects with LEED, Living Building Challenge, WELL Building Standard, Fitwel, and/or Net Zero Building certification) with this particular focus •The estimated base salary range for this position is $95,000-139,000, plus eligibility for bonuses and a comprehensive benefits package, with final compensation contingent on relevant experience.
