Architect Job Description This Architect role offers the opportunity to work with a highly creative and collaborative team dedicated to innovative problem solving and design excellence across a diverse portfolio of retail, healthcare, office, warehouse, mixed-use, and residential projects. You will serve as an energetic self-starter, contributing to a range of client accounts while balancing strong customer service with task-focused, diligent, and efficient work habits. The position focuses on the development of technical drawings through all phases of a project, applying experiential and technical knowledge to resolve design and construction issues, and ensuring the quality and consistency of deliverables. You will develop and enforce CAD/Revit standards, assist leadership in preparing project schedules and implementing work plans, and coordinate closely with internal teams, outside consultants, and agencies. This role suits a versatile architect who thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and can manage multiple projects and phases simultaneously. Responsibilities Develop detailed technical drawings and documentation throughout all phases of architectural projects, from schematic design through construction documents. Apply experiential and technical knowledge to identify, analyze, and resolve design and construction issues as they arise. Communicate project priorities, requirements, and expectations clearly to internal team members and external project partners. Ensure the quality, accuracy, and consistency of all work products, including plans, elevations, sections, and details. Develop, implement, and enforce CAD and Revit standards to support efficient and consistent production of drawings. Assist firm leadership in preparing project schedules and implementing project work plans to meet deadlines and deliverables. Coordinate with outside consultants and agencies, including engineers and other specialists, to resolve conflicts and discrepancies in project documents. Work collaboratively with a team on larger projects, contributing to design development, documentation, and coordination. Run architectural projects independently, including managing project workflows, documentation, and client coordination. Work directly with clients, manage client expectations, and maintain strong, professional client relationships. Support design efforts and ensure that design intent is clearly documented and carried through all phases of the project. Prepare complex plans, elevations, sections, and detailed drawings that comply with project requirements and standards. Organize, assemble, and manage complete sets of working drawings, fulfilling the requirements and deliverables of schematic design, design development, and construction document phases. Perform independent building code analysis and ensure project documentation complies with applicable codes and regulations. Review submittals and shop drawings during construction to verify conformance with design intent and construction documents. Coordinate projects with team members and consultants to identify and resolve conflicts and discrepancies in a timely manner. Listen and communicate effectively and professionally, both verbally and in writing, with colleagues, clients, and consultants. Exercise sound and accurate judgment in decision-making, involve appropriate stakeholders, and provide clear reasoning for decisions. Work on multiple projects and multiple phases simultaneously, often managing two to three active jobs each week. Take initiative in mentoring less experienced team members when appropriate, contributing to a supportive and collaborative studio culture. Essential Skills Architectural degree from an accredited university. 5-10 years of experience in architectural project management, including independently running projects and managing clients directly. 7-15 years of experience in the production and coordination of documents across all phases of architectural practice, including construction experience for more senior architects. Experience with a wide range of project types, including commercial, healthcare, industrial, institutional, and multifamily projects. Strong generalist background in architecture, with the ability to adapt to different building types and project scopes. Expertise in AutoCAD; AutoCAD proficiency is mandatory. Advanced knowledge and understanding of CAD and Revit software. Proficiency in design and documentation standards for architectural and construction drawings. Experience with architectural design, schematic design, and construction drawings. Ability to support and document design intent through all project phases. Knowledge of best practices for producing professional-quality architectural drawings. Strong understanding of architectural and construction industry technical terminology. Ability to prepare complex plans, elevations, and detailed drawings. Understanding of the requirements and deliverables for all project phases, including schematic design, design development, and construction documents. Demonstrated ability to conduct thorough building code analysis and ensure compliance in project documentation. Experience reviewing submittals and shop drawings during the construction phase. Ability to coordinate effectively with internal team members and external consultants to resolve conflicts and discrepancies. Strong listening skills and the ability to communicate clearly and professionally in both verbal and written forms. Ability to make timely, well-reasoned decisions and to involve appropriate stakeholders in the decision-making process. Comfort working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with multiple concurrent tasks and deadlines. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience working across all phases of architecture, from concept through construction. Interest in or experience with mentoring junior team members in a collaborative studio environment. Ability to manage multiple projects and phases simultaneously, often handling two to three jobs each week.
