Architect Job Description This role offers the opportunity to lead complex aviation projects for a design-driven firm that focuses on high-performance, experience-centered aviation facilities. You will work closely with senior project leadership to drive project financial performance, ensure strong team communication, and oversee the development, quality, and coordination of all project deliverables. As a licensed architect, you will sign and seal drawings, champion technical excellence, and help shape impactful environments that enhance the passenger journey and operational efficiency. Responsibilities Lead the execution of aviation projects from concept through construction, ensuring design intent is maintained with a high level of quality and consistency. Oversee technical coordination across disciplines, managing drawings, specifications, and BIM workflows with a strong emphasis on Revit. Drive QA/QC processes by reviewing project deliverables for accuracy, constructability, and code compliance. Partner closely with project leadership, consultants, and contractors to integrate all project requirements and maintain alignment throughout the project lifecycle. Serve as a key point of contact for clients, building strong relationships, providing regular updates, and ensuring expectations are clearly understood and met. Guide and mentor junior staff, leading day-to-day production efforts and supporting the team responsible for producing project documents. Support permitting and approvals by coordinating with local jurisdictions and regulatory agencies. Lead construction phase services, including managing submittals, responding to RFIs, conducting site visits, and coordinating field conditions. Contribute to project planning by supporting the development and maintenance of project schedules and budgets to keep work on track. Support design presentations, material selection, and the incorporation of sustainable design strategies into project solutions. Implement construction phase services in partnership with the project manager, ensuring QA reviews are completed and feedback is fully integrated into project documents. Sign and seal drawings as a licensed architect while promoting a culture of technical excellence across the project team. Essential Skills Professional degree in architecture or equivalent combination of education and experience required. Master's degree in architecture preferred. 7 plus years of design experience required, with 10 years of overall experience in design, design development, construction documentation, and construction administration strongly preferred. Proven commercial aviation experience, including terminal and concourse design, is required. Architectural registration preferred, with the ability to sign and seal drawings as a licensed architect. Proficiency in Revit and Revit Architecture, including managing BIM workflows for complex projects. Strong experience in construction documents and construction drawings for large-scale projects. Demonstrated experience in project management, including coordination of multidisciplinary teams and consultants. Experience in construction administration, including submittals, RFIs, site visits, and field coordination. Ability to oversee QA/QC processes and ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards. Strong communication and client-facing skills, with the ability to build relationships and manage expectations. Ability to mentor and guide junior staff and lead day-to-day production efforts. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with aviation design and airport projects, including terminal and concourse design. LEED accreditation or a strong interest in sustainable design strategies. Experience supporting permitting and approvals with local jurisdictions and regulatory agencies. Experience contributing to project planning, schedules, and budgets. Comfort presenting design concepts and participating in material selection. Interest in working across a wide variety of sectors and project types, with the ability to diversify work beyond aviation. Commitment to ongoing professional development, including pursuit of licensure and industry certifications, supported by paid exams and association memberships. The environment is hybrid, with in-office work on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, and the option to work from home on Monday and Friday.
