Job Title:
Project Architect Essential Skills Master's degree in architecture or a closely related architectural discipline. NCARB certification or active architectural license in Michigan, or currently progressing on a clear path toward licensure. 8+ years of professional architectural experience, including work on industrial, commercial, multifamily, and municipal projects. Proficiency in Revit for design, documentation, and coordination. Demonstrated expertise in architectural principles, building codes, and zoning regulations. Strong experience in producing construction documents and managing design development phases. Proven ability to manage projects from concept through construction, maintaining budget and schedule. Effective communication skills for presenting design proposals and coordinating with clients, stakeholders, and project teams. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience using AutoCAD and 3D modeling tools to develop detailed drawings and visualizations. Experience in construction document production and review for quality and compliance. Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, including engineers, drafters, and contractors. Capability to evaluate contractor bids and proposals and provide informed recommendations. Interest in growing into a leadership role within an architectural practice over the next 2-4 years. Strong problem-solving skills, particularly in assessing existing facilities and recommending design enhancements. Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a professional office environment. Job Description This Project Architect role leads the conceptualization, design, planning, and execution of facility-related architectural projects. You ensure that all projects meet client requirements, comply with building codes and regulations, and are delivered within established budget and schedule constraints. You will play a key role in shaping the firm's architectural practice, with a clear path to grow into a leadership position within a few years, while working in a flexible hybrid environment. Responsibilities Collaborate closely with clients to understand project objectives, define goals, and establish realistic budget limitations. Develop comprehensive architectural designs and detailed construction drawings using computer-aided design (CAD) software, with a strong emphasis on Revit. Create and present design proposals, including 3D models and visualizations, to clients, stakeholders, and regulatory agencies to ensure alignment with project objectives and requirements. Ensure strict compliance with building codes, zoning regulations, and other applicable legal and industry standards throughout all phases of design and construction. Conduct site visits and assessments to evaluate existing building conditions and provide informed recommendations for design improvements and effective problem-solving. Collaborate with engineering and construction teams to ensure that design specifications are accurately translated into constructible plans and details. Review and evaluate contractor bids, proposals, and construction documents to verify quality, accuracy, and adherence to project specifications and design intent. Oversee construction progress by conducting regular site inspections, monitoring quality and schedule, and providing timely updates to clients and project stakeholders. Coordinate and communicate effectively with diverse project teams, including architects, drafters, engineers, and contractors, to support seamless project delivery and successful project completion. Lead and contribute to design development efforts, refining concepts into fully coordinated construction documents for industrial, commercial, multifamily, and municipal projects. Apply strong project management practices to balance design quality, budget, and schedule, ensuring projects are delivered efficiently and to a high standard. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lansing, MI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $40.87 - $55.29/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
