Job Description

Job Title:
Project Architect (Contract)Job Description This contract Project Architect role focuses on leading the production of high-quality construction document sets for multifamily, mixed-use, and student housing projects. You will work closely with an existing project architect and a broader project team, contributing advanced technical expertise in Revit, building systems, and code compliance to support fast-paced project delivery. Responsibilities + Lead and produce complete construction document (CD) sets for multifamily, mixed-use, and large residential projects. + Support projects through design development and construction document phases, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and adherence to applicable codes and zoning requirements. + Coordinate closely with project managers and external consultants, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing (MEP), structural, and civil disciplines. + Apply strong technical knowledge of building systems, detailing, and constructability to develop robust and buildable solutions. + Review and incorporate redlines, requests for information (RFIs), and consultant inputs accurately and efficiently into drawing sets. + Maintain schedule discipline and manage priorities effectively in a fast-paced production environment. + Collaborate with project leadership while working independently on assigned tasks to meet tight deadlines. + Communicate clearly with team members and consultants to resolve design and documentation issues. Essential Skills + Licensed architect (RA required). + Demonstrated experience producing full construction document sets for multifamily, mixed-use, or large residential projects. + Advanced professional proficiency in Revit with hands-on experience in architectural production. + Strong understanding of building codes, zoning regulations, and construction detailing. + Experience in commercial building design; experience must extend beyond single-family residential or interiors. + Proficiency in design development and construction administration processes. + Ability to coordinate with consultants across disciplines, including MEP, structural, and civil. + Proven ability to manage priorities and consistently meet tight production deadlines. + Clear written and verbal communication skills. + Detail-oriented mindset with strong technical problem-solving abilities. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Experience with multifamily, student housing, and mixed-use architectural projects. + Background in commercial architecture and mixed-use developments. + Project management experience supporting the planning and execution of complex building projects. + Experience working within fast-paced, collaborative architectural teams. + Comfort working in a culture that emphasizes fluid, cross-disciplinary collaboration over rigid, siloed processes. Work Environment This role operates in a hybrid work environment with an office based in Washington, DC, working alongside additional project architects and project team members. The practice emphasizes a collaborative and forward-looking culture, moving away from rigid, siloed processes toward a more fluid and integrated way of working. You will work with modern architectural tools and technologies, including Revit, to deliver detailed construction documentation in a professional studio setting that supports both focused individual work and close coordination with project leadership and consultants. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Washington, DC. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $48.00 - $57.59/hr.
