Registered Project Architect Job Description This role offers the opportunity to lead the design and technical execution of medium to large-scale projects in senior living, education, healthcare, and government sectors. You will guide projects from concept through construction, translating visionary ideas into coordinated, buildable solutions that enhance how people live, learn, and heal. Responsibilities Lead the architectural design development process from schematic design through construction documentation and construction administration for medium to large-scale projects. Translate conceptual design into coordinated, buildable solutions that maintain design intent and meet performance, code, and client requirements. Oversee the creation, coordination, and quality of construction documents, specifications, and technical details. Ensure all documentation complies with applicable building codes, zoning regulations, ADA requirements, and internal quality assurance standards. Coordinate closely with internal design teams and external consultants, including structural, MEP, civil, and specialty disciplines, to fully integrate all project elements. Monitor project progress to ensure alignment with client goals, schedules, and deadlines. Manage construction administration services, including responding to RFIs, reviewing submittals, conducting site visits, and preparing field reports. Advocate for and protect design integrity throughout the construction phase and project execution. Participate in client meetings, presentations, and project interviews, clearly communicating design concepts and technical solutions. Incorporate client feedback effectively throughout all phases of the project. Support Project Managers in planning work efforts, estimating task durations, and maintaining alignment with project scope and budget. Identify potential risks, issues, or deviations early in the process and communicate them proactively to the project team. Use Revit, AutoCAD, and other design and documentation tools to develop and coordinate project deliverables. Provide guidance and mentorship to junior staff in the technical use of Revit, AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUp, Newforma, and related platforms. Work on multiple projects simultaneously, managing priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. Contribute to a culture of high-quality, purpose-driven design and technical excellence across the studio. Essential Skills Professional registration as a licensed Architect. Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture from an accredited institution. Minimum 10+ years of professional architectural experience, ideally with exposure to senior living, healthcare, education, or government projects. Strong proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD for production design and documentation. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite for communication, documentation, and coordination. Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite for design communication and presentations. Experience using Newforma for project information and documentation management. Deep knowledge of building codes, detailing, construction methods, and documentation standards. Demonstrated ability to lead the development of construction documents and technical details from schematic design through construction. Proven experience with project coordination, including collaboration with structural, MEP, civil, and specialty consultants. Strong skills in construction administration, including RFIs, submittal review, site visits, and field reporting. Excellent collaboration, organizational, and communication skills in a multidisciplinary team environment. Ability to manage and contribute to multiple projects at once while maintaining quality and meeting deadlines. Passion for high-quality, purpose-driven design and technical excellence. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience working on senior living, healthcare, education, and government facilities across various scales. 7+ years of production design experience, including schematic design, design development, and construction documents. Experience with Revit Architecture in a production environment. Background in project coordination and engineering collaboration. Experience in environments with strong senior-level mentorship, with interest in learning and growing as a designer and technical leader. Interest in participating in project interviews and client-facing presentations. Motivation to contribute to a collaborative, family-oriented culture focused on learning, growth, and balance. Work Environment You will work in an office-based environment in the South End area, within a close-knit local team of approximately 17 professionals, including both architects and interior designers. The culture emphasizes collaboration, mentorship, and a family-oriented atmosphere, with many senior staff members having over 10 years of experience, providing strong opportunities to learn and grow. The practice operates as a regional part of a larger firm, focusing on the design of senior living, education, healthcare, and government facilities nationwide. Daily work relies heavily on digital tools including Revit, AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUp, Newforma, and Microsoft Office.
