Job Description
About the Role The Senior Project Architect leads the technical execution of complex architectural projects, ensuring design intent, technical excellence, and project performance are realized from concept through construction. This role partners closely with the Technical Leader, Project Manager, and Project Designer to deliver high-quality, coordinated, and buildable solutions. As a licensed professional, the Senior Project Architect serves as Architect of Record—signing and sealing drawings, overseeing rigorous QA/QC processes, and mentoring team members to advance a culture of technical excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Key Responsibilities Project Leadership & Technical Oversight Partner with the Technical Leader, Project Manager, and Project Designer to align design intent, technical execution, budgets, and schedules. Lead the production, coordination, and quality of all project deliverables, including drawings, specifications, and supporting documentation. Ensure design intent is consistently and accurately translated into technical documents. Resolve complex design, documentation, and construction challenges throughout all project phases. Serve as the licensed Architect of Record, signing and sealing drawings in compliance with professional and regulatory standards. Coordination & Documentation Coordinate and integrate work across all disciplines, including structural, MEP, and specialty consultants. Supervise and direct staff producing technical documents, providing clear guidance and technical leadership. Establish strategies for document production, BIM execution, and data organization in coordination with the Project Manager. Set up and manage BIM and CAD standards, ensuring consistent use of digital tools and workflows. Maintain strict version control and integrity of shared electronic project files. Construction Phase Services Lead Construction Phase Services in collaboration with the Project Manager. Respond to RFIs, review submittals and shop drawings, and participate in field reviews and site visits. Review contractor schedules, material samples, and construction activities for compliance with design intent and documentation. Quality Assurance & Technical Excellence Coordinate QA/QC reviews, implement review comments, and enforce best practices across all deliverables. Review reports, plans, estimates, and calculations for accuracy, coordination, and completeness. Apply strong knowledge of building codes, standards, and regulations, and research requirements as needed. Collaborate with the Specification Writer on product research, materials evaluation, and system selection. Client, Consultant & Agency Coordination Maintain clear, proactive communication with clients to confirm requirements, conduct progress reviews, and support presentations. Coordinate with vendors, consultants, contractors, and municipal agencies to secure approvals, permits, and variances. Represent the firm in technical discussions and meetings with external stakeholders. Mentorship & Practice Development Mentor and guide less experienced team members, supporting technical growth and professional development. Contribute to a culture of knowledge sharing, accountability, and continuous improvement. Participate in business development efforts, proposal support, and client pursuits as needed. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Architecture. Licensed Architect with current professional registration. 10+ years of architectural experience across all project phases, from concept through construction. 10+ years of experience working on architecturally significant and technically complex projects. Strong knowledge of architectural building systems, construction methodologies, material applications, and contemporary design practices. Demonstrated expertise in building codes, standards, and regulatory requirements, with the ability to research and apply them effectively. Advanced proficiency in Building Information Modeling (BIM), with Revit required for project documentation and coordination. Experience developing and managing BIM standards and project-specific digital workflows. Proficiency with design and visualization tools such as Photoshop, Illustrator, and SketchUp. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Experience with manufacturing, commercial, light industrial, clean-room, laboratory, or research and development facility design preferred. Proficiency with Deltek Vantagepoint for project and resource management preferred. Familiarity with additional project management or collaboration software is a plus. Proven ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams and consultants on complex projects. Demonstrated experience supervising, mentoring, and developing less experienced architectural staff. Strong written and verbal communication skills for effective collaboration with clients, consultants, contractors, and internal teams. Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining high technical, quality, and documentation standards. Strong problem-solving skills and sound judgment in fast-paced project environments. Experience participating in business development efforts, client presentations, and proposal development. Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current with industry trends and emerging technologies. Work Environment & Culture This position operates in a hybrid work environment with a 4/9 schedule , including half-day Fridays. Team members typically work remotely on Tuesdays and Fridays, with in-office days dedicated to collaboration, design reviews, and coordination. The role involves frequent use of Revit and BIM platforms, design tools (Photoshop, Illustrator, SketchUp), Microsoft Office, and Deltek Vantagepoint. Periodic site visits and meetings with clients, consultants, contractors, and municipal agencies are required. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Addison, TX. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $50.00/hr.
