Position Summary The Paving Superintendent is responsible for the day‑to‑day field supervision and execution of asphalt paving operations. This role leads paving crews, coordinates equipment and materials, and ensures work is completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with project specifications. The Paving Superintendent plays a critical role in delivering high‑quality projects on schedule while maintaining strong safety and productivity standards across the Mid‑West Central Region. Main Responsibilities Plan, coordinate, and supervise daily paving operations, including placement, rolling, and finishing activities Manage paving crews, foremen, and equipment operators to maximize productivity and efficiency Coordinate deliveries of asphalt, aggregates, and materials with plants and logistics teams Monitor production rates, sequencing, and quality to meet schedule and cost objectives Enforce Barrett Paving Materials' safety policies and promote a strong safety culture Conduct daily Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), toolbox talks, and site safety inspections Ensure compliance with OSHA, DOT, and company safety requirements Address unsafe conditions or behaviors immediately Work closely with Project Managers to execute project plans and schedules Communicate daily progress, production quantities, and issues Assist with project documentation, daily reports, and manpower/equipment tracking Lead, mentor, and train paving foremen and crew members Promote teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement Support workforce development and performance management efforts Qualifications Required 5+ years of experience in asphalt paving operations, including supervisory or leadership roles Strong knowledge of asphalt paving methods, equipment, and materials Demonstrated ability to lead crews and manage multiple work activities Solid understanding of construction safety requirements Valid driver's license and ability to travel within the Mid‑West Central Region Preferred DOT, municipal, and commercial paving experience Experience with GPS‑controlled paving, intelligent compaction, or advanced paving technologies Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills a plus Skills and Competencies Strong leadership and communication skills Ability to make sound decisions in a fast‑paced field environment Problem‑solving mindset with attention to detail Strong organizational and time‑management abilities Commitment to safety, quality, and operational excellence Colas Inc. and its subsidiaries are an Equal Opportunity Employer.
