Job Description

Position Summary he Heavy Equipment Operator / Laborer - Asphalt Plant is responsible for supporting daily operations at the asphalt plant through the safe and efficient operation of heavy equipment and performance of general labor duties. This role assists with the movement of raw materials, loading and stockpiling aggregate, maintaining plant grounds, supporting plant production activities, and ensuring the plant operates safely and efficiently. Equipment operation may include loaders, skid steers, excavators, haul trucks, and other heavy machinery as needed. The ideal candidate has hands-on equipment experience, values safety, and is willing to work both in and out of equipment to support plant operations and maintenance needs.
Responsibilities:
Comply with (and actively promote) all Safety policies and procedures, including reporting all accidents, incidents, and near misses to ensure adherence to our Number One Core Value - Safety, first in everything we do. Safely operate assigned equipment including excavators, loaders, skid steers, rollers, and other construction equipment as needed. Perform excavation, trenching, backfilling, grading, and material handling in accordance with project plans and grade specifications. Assist crews with general labor tasks including site cleanup, hand digging, pipe installation, formwork, and concrete placement when not operating equipment. Load, unload, move, and distribute materials, tools, and equipment throughout the jobsite. Complete daily equipment inspections, condition reports, and checklists, reporting any maintenance or repair needs to the Superintendent or Foreman. Monitor fuel, grease, oil, and fluid levels daily and communicate servicing needs to management. Keep equipment clean and maintained, including cab cleaning, trash removal, lubrication, and routine housekeeping. Use hand tools, power tools, compactors, saws, tampers, and other construction tools safely and properly. Assist with maintaining organized tool trailers, storage areas, and work zones. Understand and follow all Company safety policies and procedures while maintaining awareness of surrounding crews and equipment. Work closely with Superintendents, Foremen, and field crews to meet production schedules and project deadlines. Perform additional duties as assigned to support project operations.
Qualifications:
3-5 years of Heavy/Civil Construction experience required. 2+ years of equipment operating experience with strong excavator experience preferred. Experience working around underground utilities, grading, drainage, or roadway construction preferred. OSHA 10 certification preferred. Ability to follow verbal instructions and work independently with minimal supervision. Must be able to perform strenuous physical labor in varying weather conditions. Valid driver's license preferred.
