Responsible to safely adjust machine that spreads and levels bituminous or concrete paving material on subgrade of highways and streets to control width, depth, and quality of material being placed.EDUCATION AND/OR WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
+ Over 6 month up to and including 1 year from post high school, work, military, institutional or vocational environment. + Equipment maintenance & operation + Ability to provide and maintain proper licensure, medical card and acceptable driving record.DUTIES AND/OR RESPONSIBILITIES
+ Perform daily equipment, walk around and site inspections to identify and correct any unsafe conditions and keep equipment properly maintained. + Safely and properly perform maintenance on paving machine. + Safely and properly operate adjusting mechanism of paving machine. Bolts extensions to screed to adjust width as needed. + Heat screed at beginning of shift. + Observes distribution of paving material along screed and controls direction of screed. + Clean screed at end of shift. + Communicate effectively (verbal, listening, written). Self-motivated, team-player with good interpersonal skills; ability to maintain positive customer relations and act courteous/respectful of others. + Troubleshoot and problem solve situations/problems (material quality, equipment operation/repair, etc.). Monitor and discuss production problems with co-workers and managers/supervisors. + Ensure OSHA, EPA, DNR, safety and environmental regulation compliance. + Performs other duties as assigned.
