Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated Highway Worker I to join our road & bridge construction team. This entry-level position offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in highway and infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate will be responsible for assisting with various construction activities, operating heavy equipment, and ensuring safety standards are maintained on-site. Prior construction site experience and familiarity with heavy machinery are preferred but not required, as training will be provided. This role is vital to the successful completion of roadways, paving, and other infrastructure projects, contributing to community development and transportation improvements. Duties Operate heavy equipment such as dozers, loaders, backhoes, graders, dump trucks, and front loader trucks under supervision. Assist with paving operations and other construction tasks related to highway development. Perform utility locating and groundwork preparation for construction projects. Support the setup and maintenance of construction sites, including site cleanup and safety inspections. Help with material handling and transportation around the work zone using appropriate machinery. Follow all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for all team members. Collaborate with team members to meet project deadlines and quality standards. Skills Experience or familiarity with heavy equipment operation such as dozer, loader, backhoe, grader, dump truck, and front loader truck. Knowledge of construction processes including paving and site preparation. Prior construction site experience is advantageous. Skills in utility locating are a plus. Strong work ethic with attention to detail and safety compliance. Physical ability to perform manual labor in outdoor environments for extended periods. Willingness to learn new skills related to highway construction and heavy equipment operation.
