Asphalt Screed Operator Harrisburg, PA 17111 Full-time Full-time Job Summary We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Asphalt Screed Operator to join our paving team with 1 - 2 years experience. You will be responsible for setting, operating, and adjusting the screed controls on the asphalt paver to ensure smooth, uniform asphalt distribution. The ideal candidate ensures the finished surface precisely meets project specifications for depth, slope, and grade .

Key Responsibilities Operate Screed Controls:

Manipulate levers and controls to adjust screed width, depth, and cross-slope while paving.

Monitor Material Flow:

Observe asphalt flow and distribution to prevent mat texture imperfections and ensure consistent coverage.

Quality Assurance:

Continuously verify that the laid asphalt meets the required specifications for smoothness and thickness.

Equipment Maintenance:

Perform pre-shift and end-of-shift inspections, including greasing, cleaning, and routine maintenance of the screed.

Crew Coordination:

Communicate clearly with the Paver Operator, dump truck drivers, and ground crew to ensure a steady material supply and safe work zone.

Safety & Compliance:

Adhere to all safety protocols, work in active traffic areas, and strictly follow PPE policies. Qualifications Proven experience operating a screed on an asphalt paver. Thorough understanding of paving grades, asphalt mix designs, and drainage. Strong math and measuring skills to accurately calculate yield and slope. Ability to physically lift up to 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, and work in extreme weather and environments. Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record. Flexibility to work overtime.
