Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Asphalt Screed Operator to join our construction team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for operating asphalt screeding equipment to ensure smooth, level pavement surfaces during road and highway projects. Your expertise will help deliver high-quality infrastructure while maintaining safety and efficiency on busy construction sites. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to large-scale projects and develop your skills in heavy equipment operation and construction processes. Responsibilities Operate asphalt screed machines to lay asphalt with precision, ensuring consistent thickness and smoothness across the roadway surface Coordinate with the paving crew to maintain optimal flow of materials and equipment, including loaders, dump trucks, and concrete mixers Monitor the quality of the asphalt surface during paving, making adjustments as needed for optimal results Assist with the setup and calibration of paving equipment, including mechanical adjustments for different project specifications Conduct routine inspections of machinery, perform basic maintenance, and report any mechanical issues promptly Support other construction activities such as concrete forming, concrete pumping, rebar installation, and excavator operation as required Follow all safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment for yourself and team members Requirements Proven experience operating heavy construction equipment, particularly asphalt screeds and related machinery Knowledge of paving techniques, concrete finishing, and construction site safety standards Mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot minor equipment issues Familiarity with construction tools such as loaders, excavators, dump trucks, and concrete mixers Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) or equivalent preferred for operating or driving commercial vehicles on-site Prior experience in concrete forming, rebar installation, or concrete pumping is a plus Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively within a team environment Join us to be part of a dynamic construction crew dedicated to building durable infrastructure!
