Position Overview A well-established regional pavement maintenance company is seeking an experienced, motivated, and dependable Asphalt Crew Lead to oversee sealcoating and asphalt maintenance projects. This hands-on leadership role is responsible for managing a small crew, ensuring projects are completed safely and efficiently, and delivering high-quality workmanship on residential, commercial, and industrial properties. The ideal candidate has experience in asphalt maintenance, enjoys working outdoors, leads by example, and takes pride in producing exceptional results while maintaining a positive team environment. Key ResponsibilitiesCrew Leadership Lead and supervise daily asphalt maintenance operations on multiple job sites. Assign tasks, provide direction, and ensure crew members follow company standards. Train and mentor new employees on proper techniques, equipment operation, and safety procedures. Maintain productivity while promoting teamwork, accountability, and professionalism. Project Execution Oversee surface preparation including sweeping, power washing, blowing debris, and vegetation removal. Lead sealcoating applications using spray systems, brushes, and squeegees to achieve a consistent, high-quality finish. Direct crack filling, pothole repairs, and asphalt patching operations. Ensure all projects are completed on schedule and meet quality expectations. Equipment & Vehicle Operation Safely operate and oversee the use of sealcoating machines, sprayers, blowers, pressure washers, tampers, compactors, and other equipment. Perform routine equipment inspections and basic maintenance. Maintain clean, organized trucks, trailers, and job sites. Safety & Compliance Enforce company safety policies and
OSHA/DOT
guidelines. Set up traffic control devices, cones, barricades, and warning signs. Conduct daily safety checks and ensure all crew members wear appropriate PPE. Customer Service Communicate professionally with customers regarding project progress and expectations. Represent the company with integrity, reliability, and a solutions-oriented attitude. Address minor field concerns and communicate project updates to management. Qualifications Previous experience leading asphalt, sealcoating, paving, construction, or pavement maintenance crews preferred. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record (CDL is a plus). Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check. Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions. Ability to lift 50+ pounds regularly and perform physically demanding work. Experience operating hand tools, power equipment, and asphalt maintenance machinery. Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Dependable, self-motivated, and committed to producing quality work.
