Job Description

Shape the steel that shapes the sea Picture your day: you grab the latest drawings, chalk your lines, and begin transforming raw plate into the backbone of a vessel. You lay out precise reference points, trim and prep steel, and fit bulkheads, frames, and plate so welders can lock everything into place. Each task you complete keeps our projects moving and our crew safe. What you'll do Interpret blueprints, drawings, and layout specifications to plan your work. Fit, align, and assemble structural components for ships, bridges, and other marine vessels. Measure, cut, grind, and tack parts to prepare them for welding.
Operate common shipyard tools:
hand and power tools, cutting torches, grinders, and related equipment. Lay out patterns, lines, and reference points on plates and structural members. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area at all times. What you bring Previous shipyard or marine construction experience. Proficiency reading blueprints and using precision measuring tools. Hands-on experience fitting steel plates, bulkheads, frames, and other structural pieces. Ability to pass a hands-on skills assessment. Comfort working in confined spaces, climbing ladders, and standing for extended periods. Reliability, punctuality, and dependable transportation. Preferred qualifications TWIC card. Prior shipyard experience strongly preferred. OSHA or safety certifications. Pre-employment notice Must be able to pass drug screen and background requirements
