The Lead Boiler Technician reports directly to the Boiler Division Manager and plays a key role in supporting technicians both in the shop and at customer sites. This individual is expected to be attentive, positive, and responsible, with a strong work ethic and a problem-solving mindset. A commitment to customer satisfaction is essential.Core Responsibilities:
Read and interpret technical documents, blueprints, and drawings Read and draw isometrics Take measurements Plan layouts and procedures for welding and fabrication Select appropriate welding equipment and methods based on job requirements Set-up components according to specifications Prepare and align parts for welding; join components, repair holes, and cut through materials using specialized welding equipment Demonstrate strong knowledge of welding techniques and metal properties Adhere to all safety standards and protocols Perform various physical duties as assigned Repair machinery; inspect surfaces and structures; and maintain equipment Possess strong knowledge of welding and metal properties Maintain all safety standards Travel to customer location which may require overnight stays Performs various physical duties as assigned Move, secure, install, build, load, or unload materials Provide on-the-go training while supervising active projects Ensure safety practices are followed by all team members on site Delegate tasks to laborers and welders according to the job scope Report to the supervisor upon job completion and provide feedback on the job team performanceConditions:
Work within a shop environment which requires the use of patience, sound judgement, and problem solving Long workdays and sometimes periods of no work Mental acuity to engage in and focus on activities over an extended period that may be monotonous or tedious Ability to thrive in a variable high-volume, low-volume work environment Ability to work at heights Comfortable driving DOT rated vehicles Ability to work in confined spaces for prolonged periods ISB reserves the right to revise this job description at any timeSkill, Knowledge, and Abilities:
Ability to use a variety of equipment and tools competently and confidently, such as stick welders, MIG welders, TIG welders, angle grinders, saws, squares, calipers, and clamps. Knowledge of safety standards and adherence to protective clothing and gear is critical Possess great attention to detail Be flexible and able to contort their bodies to fit in unusual spaces of varying size Ability to lift 50lbs solo and 100lbs with assistance Customer service attitude Ability to read, interpret, gather, and enter information accurately Proficient math skills Strong listening and communication skills Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and work to time constraints Adherence to customer confidentiality guidelines Good organizational skills Ability to lead a team while working effectively. Excellent communication skills are a must. Knowledge of English grammar and punctuationQualifications and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent 3+ years welding experience is required; certification(s) preferred 3+ years experience in a lead position Valid Drivers License Must have experience with specialized types of welding equipment and procedures as well as electrical and manual tools such ad saws, squares, and calipers Able to pass a background checkJob Type:
