Job Description

The Boiler Heat Exchanger Journeyman is a skilled professional responsible for the installation, maintenance, repair, and inspection of boiler systems and heat exchangers. This role requires a deep understanding of boiler operations, welding, and system troubleshooting, ensuring high-quality work that adheres to safety and industry standards. Key Responsibilities1. Installation & Maintenanceo Install, align, and assemble boiler systems, heat exchangers, and auxiliary components.o Perform maintenance tasks, including tube cleaning, gasket replacements, and mechanical repairs.o Conduct hydrostatic testing, inspections, and pressure testing of boiler and heat exchanger systems.2. Troubleshooting & Repairso Diagnose and resolve mechanical, operational, and structural issues in boiler and heat exchanger systems.o Repair or replace defective components, including valves, tubes, and seals.o Ensure systems are operating efficiently and within manufacturer and safety specifications.3. Welding & Fabricationo Perform welding and fabrication tasks required for repairs and installations, such as tube replacement or structural modifications.o Work with various materials, including carbon steel and stainless steel.o Ensure welds meet industry standards and pass required inspections.4. Safety & Complianceo Follow OSHA, company, and industry safety guidelines and standards.o Ensure work areas are safe, organized, and compliant with regulatory requirements.o Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and participate in safety meetings.5. Technical Documentationo Read and interpret blueprints, technical manuals, and schematics to execute tasks effectively.o Document completed work, including repairs, inspections, and material usage.o Maintain accurate records of equipment performance and maintenance schedules.6. Collaborationo Work closely with supervisors, project managers, and other team members to complete projects efficiently.o Mentor apprentices and less experienced team members to build skills and knowledge.

Qualifications
    Experience:
    o 4-6 years of experience in boiler and heat exchanger installation, maintenance, and repair.o Journeyman certification or equivalent experience is required.
      Education/Certifications:
      o High school diploma or GED required.o Certifications in welding (e.g., ASME, AWS) are strongly preferred.o OSHA 30-hour certification preferred.
        Skills:
        o Proficient in troubleshooting boiler and heat exchanger systems.o Skilled in welding, cutting, and using other fabrication tools.o Ability to interpret complex blueprints, schematics, and technical documents.o Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality work. Physical Requirements
        • Ability to lift 50+ pounds and perform tasks requiring physical strength and endurance.
        • Work in confined spaces, at heights, and in varying environmental conditions (heat, noise, etc.).
        • Extended standing, bending, and kneeling as job tasks demand.
