This position is responsible for the fabrication, engraving, installation, and maintenance of granite memorials and monuments. The ideal candidate takes pride in craftsmanship, works safely, and understands the importance of creating lasting tributes that honor loved ones. Position Summary The Memorial Mason is responsible for producing and installing memorials, headstones, grave markers, and related products. This role combines monument craftsmanship, engraving, installation work, customer service, and teamwork to ensure every memorial meets the highest standards of quality and accuracy. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Fabricate, engrave, finish, and install granite memorials, headstones, bases, markers, and related products. Perform sandblasting, laser engraving, stencil application, and hand detailing. Read and interpret design layouts, proofs, measurements, cemetery regulations, and work orders. Operate monument-making equipment, including blast cabinets, compressors, cranes, and hand tools. Load, unload, transport, and set heavy granite materials using proper lifting techniques and equipment. Install memorials in cemeteries while complying with cemetery regulations and company quality standards. Complete on-site final date engravings and memorial repairs as needed. Inspect finished work for accuracy, spelling, alignment, engraving depth, and overall quality before delivery and installation. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment. Properly maintain company vehicles, equipment, tools, and materials. Represent the company professionally while interacting with funeral homes, cemetery personnel, and families. Meet project deadlines and communicate proactively regarding scheduling, material issues, or project concerns. Assist with deliveries, shop operations, and other cemetery-related duties as assigned. Qualifications Experience in monument fabrication, engraving, masonry, construction, stone work, or related trades preferred. Ability to safely operate power tools, machinery, and lifting equipment. Strong attention to detail and commitment to craftsmanship. Ability to read measurements, layouts, and design specifications accurately. Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Physical Requirements Ability to regularly lift, move, and position heavy granite materials using appropriate equipment and assistance. Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions. Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and perform physically demanding tasks throughout the workday. Ability to tolerate exposure to dust, noise, and construction-related environments. Travel Requirements This position requires regular travel to cemeteries and job sites for memorial installations, repairs, and engravings.
