Responsibilities:

• Lay bricks and other types of masonry units to construct or repair walls, foundations, chimneys, and other structures
• Mix mortar and spread it onto bricks or blocks to secure them in place
• Use trowels and other hand tools to cut, shape, and smooth bricks or blocks
• Read blueprints or other specifications to determine the size, shape, and layout of masonry structures
• Install insulation materials in masonry walls
• Clean and maintain tools and equipment used in masonry work

Skills:

• Heavy equipment operation: Proficiency in operating heavy machinery such as forklifts or cranes for moving materials on construction sites
• Blueprint reading: Skill in interpreting architectural blueprints and construction plans to guide masonry work This job description is intended to convey information essential to understanding the scope of the Brick Mason position.
