Job Title:
Carpenter Job Description This role focuses on performing carpentry repairs, cleaning, and light maintenance on trailers, shop areas, and surrounding grounds in a fast-paced environment. You will work both independently and as part of a service team to inspect, repair, and refurbish equipment while maintaining a strong safety-first mindset. The position requires hands-on work with hand and power tools, attention to detail, and a commitment to keeping work areas clean and organized. Responsibilities Work safely at all times and actively participate in a strong safety culture, including attending regular safety meetings and following all safety procedures. Perform carpentry repairs on floors, walls, roofing, siding, windows, fixtures, and other structural components as needed. Assist and train in service and refurbishment duties to support the service team and refurbishment projects. Inspect basic electrical wiring systems and report or address issues within the scope of minor electrical work. Check, scrape, and seal roofs as needed to maintain weather-tight integrity. Clean trailers thoroughly, including buffing floors, wiping down walls, counters, fixtures, and doors, and ensuring a neat appearance. Clean all windows, walls, ceilings, fixtures, and doors in trailers and shop areas to maintain a high standard of cleanliness. Maintain a clean and organized working area inside and outside, including the shop, yard, lawn, parking lot, and building. Perform regular inventory checks, monitor stock levels, and place or assist with orders as needed. Use and operate a floor buffer to clean and maintain floors in trailers and shop areas. Work independently in a fast-paced environment, managing tasks with a sense of urgency and minimal supervision. Handle general labor and repair tasks related to plumbing, minor HVAC, and minor electrical as needed and within skill level. Use a variety of hand and power tools safely and effectively for carpentry, repair, and maintenance tasks. Lift and move materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds as part of daily activities. Essential Skills Strong safety awareness and a safety-first mentality, with a preference for OSHA 10-hour safety training. Proven ability to work with a variety of hand and power tools, including safe operation and proper handling. Carpentry knowledge and experience, including repairs to floors, walls, roofing, siding, windows, and fixtures. Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining quality and safety standards. Capability to keep the shop, trailers, and surrounding areas clean, organized, and presentable. Ability to operate a floor buffer for cleaning and maintenance of floors. Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform manual labor tasks throughout the workday. Basic computer knowledge sufficient to support inventory checks, orders, or related tasks. Ownership and use of basic hand tools, including hammer, screwdrivers, wrench set, tape measure, and similar tools. Additional Skills & Qualifications OSHA 10-hour safety training or other formal safety training. Background in carpentry, plumbing, repair, minor electrical, and minor HVAC work. Experience with plumbing repairs and installations in a maintenance or service environment. Familiarity with minor electrical systems and basic troubleshooting. Exposure to minor HVAC tasks such as basic maintenance or simple repairs. Electrical, plumbing, and welding experience considered a plus. Experience performing cleaning, washing, and general labor tasks in industrial or shop settings. Ability to inspect, service, and install components using hand and power tools. Standard hours are approximately 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with a schedule that includes two 10-minute breaks and a 30-minute lunch; there is potential to start earlier (around 5:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.) and some flexibility in hours is required. The environment is fast paced and involves regular use of hand and power tools, floor buffers, and other equipment typical of a carpentry and maintenance shop. Dress code includes steel-toe boots, work pants, and a t-shirt, while safety glasses and gloves are provided. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Perris, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $23.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
