Job Description

Skillforce is seeking experienced Journeyman Concrete Carpenters for contract-to-hire opportunities in the Iowa City, IA and Cedar Rapids, IA. areas. This role offers the chance to work on a variety of commercial projects with the potential to transition into a long-term, permanent position. The anticipated schedule for this role is 40+hours a week, and pay is up to $32/hr. depending upon experience.
Key Responsibilities:
Construct, assemble, and dismantle wood and metal forms for concrete pours. Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine formwork layout. Install rebar, mesh, and other reinforcement materials as required. Pour, level, and finish concrete using appropriate tools and techniques. Ensure formwork is properly aligned, braced, and secured to meet structural requirements. Safely operate hand and power tools including saws, drills, and concrete vibrators. Collaborate with other trades and team members to meet project deadlines. Maintain a clean and organized work area and adhere to safety protocols.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 4 years of experience in commercial concrete carpentry. Ability to read and interpret construction documents and blueprints. Strong understanding of concrete properties and curing processes. Reliable transportation and willingness to travel to job sites.
